Fly Fishing in Galveston

Galveston is the beating heart of inshore fishing in Texas. With both Galveston Bay and Trinity Bay flowing into it, it’s a haven for anglers looking to test a range of fishing techniques. Fly fishing in Galveston is just one of these popular techniques, with the shallow waters offering the chance to sight cast and attract some monster fish. With a professional guide, you can come and see what all the fuss is about!

What fish can I catch?

Across the bays and around the jetties that protect Galveston from the open ocean, it feels like there’s no end to what you can target. Go after a specific species to mount on your wall, or try to catch ‘em all. No matter what you want, Galveston fly fishing has it.

Some of Texas’ most prized fish call these waters home. Go after monster Redfish and Black Drum, exciting Jack Crevalle and Pompano, delicious Trout, Mackerel, and Tripletail, and even some Tarpon and Sharks. It’ll be a fishing trip to remember!

What to Expect

The bays are full of these sought-after fish year-round, so get ready for plenty of action on your Galveston fly fishing adventure. Avid anglers will relish the opportunity to hook bite after bite after bite. If it’s your first time trying to land something on the fly, fear not! With so many fish to target, you’ll have plenty of time and action to learn exactly what to do.

Trips last from anywhere between four hours and eight hours, so you can decide what’s best for you. You’ll even have the option of combining your fly fishing trip with some conventional fishing to make sure that you head home with plenty of delicious fish to fill the freezer.

When to Go

An added bonus of fly fishing in Galveston is that you can come whenever you want. The warm weather of southern Texas means there’s never a bad time to get out on the water, and the fish love it too. Whenever you come, you’re in for a thrilling experience, landing plenty of exciting and delicious fish.

How to Prepare

Aboard a Galveston fly fishing charter, you’ll have the support of a professional captain to show you what’s what. With all the assistance needed, you’re sure to have a productive day out. All you need to do is check whether the charter comes with fly fishing equipment included. If not, don’t forget to bring your own gear aboard.

Other than that, all you’ll need to do is grab your TX saltwater fishing license, bring some drinks and snacks to make the most of your day, and settle in for a thrilling trip!

Galveston and its bays offer some of the best fishing Texas and the whole country has to offer. Book your fly fishing excursion and discover it in style.

The captain takes care of every part of fishing. We caught a bunch of fish we never see in Kansas. We saw dolphins on the way to our fishing spots.

August is still a bit too hot! The sun will wear you down quickly. Make sure to hydrate and wear plenty of sunscreen as well as mosquito spray. As far as the fish, watch for the weather. The murky water after lots of rain can make it hard to see the bait and means less fish!
