Fishing in Blue Ridge

Nestled in the heart of North Georgia’s mountains, Blue Ridge stands as a premier destination for anglers, renowned as the "Trout Capital of Georgia." This region offers diverse fishing experiences across its pristine waters, with Blue Ridge Lake and the Toccoa River serving as prime hotspots. The lake teems with Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted Bass, alongside Walleye and Catfish year-round, while the river boasts exceptional Trout fishing—especially from March to November—with Rainbow, Brown, and Brook Trout thriving in its currents.

Fly fishing thrives here, particularly on the Toccoa River, where guided trips cater to all skill levels. Bass and Striped Bass fishing also draw enthusiasts to the lakes, with Walleye action peaking in spring. The stunning Appalachian scenery—lush forests, clear waters, and potential wildlife sightings—enhances every excursion. Whether wading secluded streams or floating expansive lakes, anglers enjoy both solitude and exhilarating catches.

Blue Ridge fishing charters unlock these experiences, offering tailored adventures for Trout, Bass, Walleye, and Striper. Guides provide expertise, equipment, and access to exclusive spots, ensuring memorable outings amid Georgia’s highest-elevation waters. With options ranging from half-day floats to immersive eco-tours, Blue Ridge delivers year-round opportunities across its 4,500 fishable miles.

This is a beautiful area with lots of streams. Be prepared to hike a little to get up and down the stream. We had such a great time. We are all about having a great experience and Richard really provided a great service to us.

As a first time angler, the only thing that I regret not doing was asking the captain to show me how to cast the line and/or allow me to bait the hook myself. Otherwise, there's really nothing more to prepare for other than a great time.

It was surprisingly hot the day we were out. In the 90s… Which felt amazing to be in the river, but the sun was wicked hot. We think the fish were a little slow to bite because of the heat, but things picked up towards the end of our outing

Great. This year (2022) was a little on the hot (above average) side and there is always the chance of thunderstorms when that hot!

Worth every penny to have an experienced guide. The float trip was so much nicer than just a wade trip.

I would start with a guided outing to learn where the fish are and what the fish a biting. When you see it with your own eyes, it is different than reading about it on the internet.
