If you are experienced you may want to opt for off shore as near shore is less active fishing than just reeling in your catch. For inexperienced fishermen near shore is a great introduction to ocean fishing and is super chill and relaxing. However more serious fisherman may find it to be not active or interactive. The weather is May is warm but not too hot yet, still would recommend a morning trip however.

Big Spanish mackerel just started to show up. Bonito are still in the area. Mahi and Blackfin Tuna are offshore. Blues are pushing bait close to beaches.

We had no prior experience and we had no idea what to expect. We showed up and the captain made us feel at ease immediately. We were a group of one adult and four teenagers, but never felt like it was not a safe situation. They were patient, gave great directions, and everyone had a great time! Boat was clean, easy to move about on, and very comfortable! Place that we launched from was easy to find and park at as well.

Don’t think there’s a bad time to be at Carolina Beach (except maybe a hurricane but that might be debate able). We caught a boat load of fish, a wide variety, and the water wasn’t too rough for the kids.

Watch weather and tides, keeping tides low or fishing later in the day as required.. for higher tides stay tight to the reeds,mix up bobber vs bottom rigs.. shrimp and or minnows seem to be the favored bait.

The fish weren’t easy, but he knew where to got us plenty of bites and some fun catches. From bluefish to red drum and even a wild stingray moment, it was unforgettable.
Highly recommend him for anyone looking for a solid charter—we’ll definitely be back!

Cord did a wonderful job welcoming my wife and me on board. He was Jonnie on the spot to resolve any problems and answer any questions throughout the trip. Was not a great day of fishing but Cord was persistent in his efforts. He cleaned all the fish that we kept and bid us farewell with genuine kindness. Overall it was a great experience!!

I took my 10-year-old Sun for his first charter boot ride with Captain Nick and his mate. They were absolutely amazing and my son caught 27 Spanish mackerel, 2 blues and 2 lizard fish. He had a great time and it was an awesome experience. Loved seeing the smile on his face. We'll definitely be booking a regular trip for me and him next time.
