South Africa Carp Fishing Charters

Get ready to target 4 of the biggest freshwater species of Africa, including Carp, Catfish, Brown Trout, and Largemouth Bass! You'll be fishing in pristine conditions, about 30 minutes away from your hotel. Fishing tackle, licenses, BBQ, snacks, beers, juice, soda and water, as well as pick-up and drop-off, are all included in the trip. Your guide also guarantees a half-price refund if you don't catch any fish. Please note, departure is flexible, just let your guide know and he'll make it work for you.

The captain will provide tuition and practical guidance to fly fish for one of South Africa's prime rivers for small and largemouth Yellowfish, Carp, Catfish, and Mudfish. The fishing typically includes wading in rapids, riffles, and shallow pools while using upstream nymphing (Czech or French) techniques. The size of fish often ranges from 1-5 kg. While wading, it's recommended to use boots with felt soles to grip the rocks. The prime season runs from September to April (African summer).

You will be taken around Cape Town to some of our lakes, rivers, and estuaries to target a wide range of freshwater species from common Carp, Smallmouth, and Largemouth Bass, and even our Giant Sharptooth Catfish known locally as a Barber, a fish that regularly grows over 6 feet. Snacks and drinks will be provided as the day progresses and at lunch time a meal will be prepared for you.
