Redfish are the most highly sought after inshore catch in the waters of Florida. Look for them in the bays and passes on the Gulf side, where they'll mostly be younger and easier to catch, or on the Atlantic side in rivers, estuaries and flats, if you're looking for a real fight.
They range anywhere from 15 and 34'' and from grunts weighing a couple of lbs to bulls exceeding the 20lbs mark. Anglers are allowed to keep one or two per person, depending on the zone caught.

Redfish fishing in Florida varies moderately throughout the year. High season is March to July. Low season is January and November to December. There is no closed season.

It was a little choppy but I donโt imagine that had to deal with it being December. Sergio said the wind change didnโt help that so itโs tough to say. But it wasnโt too hot and it was so pretty.

Our trip was not specifically for fishing, more for a combination of shelling, fishing and bird/dolphin watching. We only caught a couple of fish, but we did not fish very long so were pleased with what we caught.

Check with the captain in a private message or go to their Facebook and locate their phone number and talk with them directly to find out if the conditions are looking good enough to go out (offshore specifically otherwise they may talk you into an inshore trip). Donโt get me wrong inshore fishing can get you some great fishing and if you only have a certain amount of time to be in the area go fish on!

Itโs a great destination for fishing. Thereโs a lot of variety to catch and you donโt need to travel far from shore. Thereโs less time traveling and more time fishing.

Skill and experience matters, Captain Davy is the best choice. Great conversation, laughter, and a real knowledge of the waterways of New Symnra. He was faced with tricky weather conditions and we still caught fish.

To those fishing in Fort Lauderdale for the first time I think the kind of trip you choose is a determining factor in what a successful outing will be. Are you going for volume or big game? Naturally big game is probably going to be less volume and require a longer trip most likely but if the conditions are right strategically speaking the bottom year is round in Florida from a volume/action perspective.
