We were a bit late in the season and we were not able to keep the wild Coho we caught. We would not have been able to eat more than the Spring we kept anyway since we are on holiday's. It was an enjoyable day on the boat regardless.

Fantastic place to fish as we were within ten minutes from the marina allowing more time for the rods to be in the water for Salmon fishing. I highly recommend the Sooke area and we will be back again.

Go out with a captain who knows where the fish are because it is easy to waste the day fishing empty waters.

Amazing salmon fishing! Give yourself plenty of time to figure out the conveluted online fishing license website. As a non Canadian resident, halibut is not allowed in the waters around sooke. If you want halibut and Salmon, port Renfrew is the place to be from what I understand. If in sooke, book with Travis!

Small town with little services/shopping and no internet or cell service. Good restaurants and limited groceries. Bring food if you are cooking.

I would recommend getting a hold of Brent from West Coast ocean charters. He knows his stuff. He's an amazing fisherman we had a great time on his boat and everything was excellent!

Fishing in May is a bit slower than July or August but it is not crowded. The pace of life is slower and the crowds are smaller which is what we wanted. We did not expect to Catch a large amount of fish but wanted the experience of fishing for salmon and being on the spring waters. Chris was a great guide and nice person to meet and fish with in the future. Had a good day and look forward to many meals from our salmon in the summer months ahead!

Book a charter and they'll show you where to go and how to they do it but if you already know how these day you got to fish in 750 to 950ft. of water and downriggers down to 180 - 200 ft. Evil eye or pink sink spoon or anchovy with teaser head! Happy fishing!
