(Half Day Trip - 1:00 PM)

Hot Day, but a great day of fishing!!

Captain Ross did a great job getting us on some fish throughout the entire charter. With it being a hot day and right after some heavy storms, I did not go into it expecting much, But it turned into a great day with me catching the trifecta! Thank you again Captain Ross!!

(7 PM to Midnight Porgies & Croakers)

    Night time adventures

The crew was great, the ride was fun, and the fishing was lack luster not because of the crew or anything we caught some but for being out there i thought we would catch way more. But that was just my experience on ankther part of the hoat they were catching fish like every 2min overall great experience and definitely will be going back i want my cooler filled up next time.

    41 keepers!!!

Had a wonderful experience with my two children, 17 and 15. The Captain and his Mate (grandson) were both knowledgeable, helpful, kind and a pleasant! We caught 41 keepers!!! in addition to numerous others we had to let go because of size. Super fun day!!!

About Weakfish fishing

Size
6–18 lb
Food Value

Game Quality
Good

Part of the same family as the Spotted Seatrout/Speckled Trout, the Weakfish is an enjoyable game fish of the Cynoscion genus. Offering a fun fight on light tackle and a good meal afterwards, this sometimes overlooked fish is always worth targeting.

When and where

Weakfish can be found on North America's east coast, from the north of Florida up to Nova Scotia, Canada (although it is not often found north of Massachussetts). The state fish of Delaware, it is best targeted here and in New York in the summer, while Florida to North Carolina is best for Weakfishing in the winter

This is a schooling species that prefers inshore sandy bottoms in the summer and deeper waters in the winter. Never venturing into freshwater, it can be caught in estuaries, bays, and in the surf.

How to catch Weakfish

The Weakfish's name doesn't come from its fighting ability – in fact, it has been described as the 'gamiest' fish of its genus. It can be landed with conventional, spinning, or fly tackle, and the most productive techniques include trolling, jigging, and surf fishing. The most effective way to target it is by chumming around a drifting or anchored boat, although it can also be fished for by shore-based anglers from piers, docks, and bridges.

Are Weakfish good to eat?

Yes! Their tender meat is very moist and full of flavor. It should be eaten very fresh as the meat does not keep well.
