I highly recommend Dustin and Shell as shark hunters for anyone looking to have an unforgettable and thrilling experience. Not only are they incredibly skilled and knowledgeable in their craft, but they also showed immense kindness and warmth towards our 11-year-old son during our recent shark hunting excursion. From the moment we arrived, Dustin and Shell went out of their way to make sure our son felt comfortable and included in the experience. They took the time to explain the process of shark hunting in a way that was both educational and engaging for him, answering all of his questions with patience and enthusiasm. But what truly set Dustin and Shell apart was their dedication to making our son's dream of catching a shark come true. They worked tirelessly to ensure that he had the opportunity to reel in not one, but two 6 ft sharks during our trip. The look of joy and excitement on his face when he landed those massive creatures was priceless, and it's all thanks to the care and expertise of Dustin and Shell. Overall, our experience with Dustin and Shell was nothing short of incredible. They not only provided us with an exhilarating adventure, but they also showed us the true meaning of kindness and generosity. I cannot recommend them enough for anyone looking to embark on a shark hunting excursion – they truly are the best in the business.

We could not get out on the Atlantic because of high waves. If that happens, the backshore country is not a bad backup but be patient. The fish are not as easy to reel in the boat but you will find them with Captain Brenden. It's still a bunch of fun.

Yep. 100%. I wanted to say that it was NOT what I expected when I booked it - because it was WAY BETTER THAN EXPECTED - but wasn’t sure if that was the wrong way to answer the question without follow-up lol.

Be prepared with layers because the ocean breeze can be strong & cold. The weather on our trip was perfect, a steady wind with constant waves. If you even think you should, take an anti nausea at least 2 hours before the boat. Our trip was on a 24 ft boat, I think that was a great size.

In the winter in Florida? Dress warm!!! Take extra clothing just in case. The ocean is beautiful and cold. The wind coming in has a bite. Also if you can afford it take the toll roads there and home!!

Please reach Captain Dustin and Crew! You won’t regret it! Bring whatever refreshments snacks a spare set of clothes and towels. Make sure you have your phone or camera charged to capture your memories on camera!

I say just ok because we didn’t have any action or sharks to real in. However the beach setting was beautiful. From what I’m told Sharks will bite anytime if they are hungry, but we just hit an off night I suppose.

Check with the captain in a private message or go to their Facebook and locate their phone number and talk with them directly to find out if the conditions are looking good enough to go out (offshore specifically otherwise they may talk you into an inshore trip). Don’t get me wrong inshore fishing can get you some great fishing and if you only have a certain amount of time to be in the area go fish on!

Nothing really, this was our first time fishing there, and we had an awesome time!!! And the only reason I say no it wasn't what I expected at booking, or not to did we catch the fish we wanted, was cause we thought we were going out deeper, and the fish would be different, and bigger. But it doesn't take anything away from the fact we caught fish we never thought we'd catch, seen fish we've never seen before, and it was just an amazing time!!!

Be patient, as the weather dictates what kind of fishing can be done. But, there is plenty of in-shore fishing to be had during those times when you can't get out to deeper water. Check out Reel Compulsive fishing charters. My friend and I had a great time. Caught 13 different species of fish, and even reeled in a Stone Crab that wouldn't let go of my bait shrimp. Took his big main claw, and tossed him back. Dolphins and manatees routinely swimming by the boat, both while anchored and while moving. So, you can get some wildlife watching and fishing in at the same time.

New Smyrna Beach is one of my favorite fishing spots. Known for it's Red fish, black drum, sheephead and several species of snapper. It's quiet, laid back and enjoyable for the whole family. They have sandbars to pull up on tht kids and pets can get out and run around while the anglers fish off the back of the boat. It's awesome!

February can be a bit slow, but still a great time. We had 3 keepers from the trip, two of which are sharks. If you're just in it to catch and release its well worth it, but if you are interested in catching lots to eat it may be best to wait for early spring or fall

Do your research on the Charter Captain and his charter service. Be prepared for the weather conditions and keep your expectations realistic. Always listen to the captain's advice, no matter how much fishing experience you may have,

Skill and experience matters, Captain Davy is the best choice. Great conversation, laughter, and a real knowledge of the waterways of New Symnra. He was faced with tricky weather conditions and we still caught fish.
Thank you Captain!!

Yes I would recommend this trip to anglers fishing in New Smyrna Beach for the first time. It was our first trip to NSB and it was the high light of our trip. I believe most people who try this will be back again. I know my wife and I will be returning for more shark fishing off the beach!

Be patient and let your rod do the work. The smaller fish are tricky to bring in with light bites. Larger fish are out there but may take a little more time to target and make sure they are in season.

Great location to fish. Leaving under the north causeway bridge by some beautiful houses with large boats and out of Ponce Inlet with jetties on both sides and the lighthouse is great. Seeing the hotels/condos of New Smyrna and Daytona is really nice. Add in a bunch of fish and this is a great trip.

Pray for a day that was not so windy and cold. Captain Gary did an excellent job under challenging conditions. Filleting the sheepshead must have been brutal in the cold wind. I would not hesitate to go fishing with Gary again.

Pay for the 12 hour trips if it is offered because the bite is good early in the morning and it gets good again late in the evening, but if you only pay for the 8 hour trip then you'll loose out on those evening bites.

Highly recommend it. The captain worked extra hard to make as enjoyable as possible thumbs up to Fred Carter, Carter's charters. A very memorable trip, hanging a fish of a lifetime and everyone had a time about to fight it thanks a million

Don’t expect to be hooked up all day. It’s called fishing, not catching. There is work involved and catching fish all day is not a guarantee.

Annette Jackson
Be sure to bring sunscreen and water it gets hot out there! Especially if you’re not a Florida native!

Don’t use Captain Leon he might not show up like he did with me and my buddy no call no show

Shannon Chrysler
Listen to what he says in the beginning so you don’t lose the shark when it is hooked! Reel TOWARDS the ocean…I know that may seem obvious but believe me, it’s not

Jordan Anderson
Would have liked to get into some bigger fish, but a lot depends on time allotted. Definitely recommend someone try this trip

Nathan Amidon
Fishing beaches for your first time can be tricky. I would highly recommend that you get a guided trip to learn and enjoy a great experience. Before you dive in and waste money on bait and tackle.

James Bartlett
Read as many reviews as you can and make sure you tell the captain what type fish you want to catch.

Jacob Bright
Bring some drinks and be ready to cast a lot as the fish seemed to hit the bait before it hit bottom.
