What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Daytona Beach, Florida for the first time?

Make sure to wear longsleeves and a hat on the water to protect from the sun. Bring a small cooler with plenty of water and ice to stay hydrated during the hot summer months. Polarized sunglasses will help you see under the water a little better also.

The fishing was great but the weather and water conditions could have been better. It was cold, windy, and the water was a bit rough. The captain, his helper, the boat and equipment was great, but next time (for the sake of my twin 12 year olds who got a bit sea sick) we will fish during a warmer and calmer time of year. Speaking strictly fishing, we were catching fish constantly and a great variety of fish which made up for the tough weather conditions. Scott was easy going and tried to make everyone feel comfortable.

Research the best time for fishing in FL. In the summer you want to go out in the AM. In the PM there too much chance for storms. If the tide is running in the AM, you'll probably do OK. Unlike us, we went out at slack tide. Slack tide

Things to make sure to have!!! Trust me you don’t want to be fried! The sun is hot and 4 hours is a long time! Just Pack it! A boat hat WITH a drawstring WATER SHOES not flip flops Long knee shorts or loose pants Waterproof phone case with Lanyard Sweet snacks Sunscreen & lip balm Hand towel Sun glasses Ice box for ur catch (in ur car) Come with an OPEN MIND trust the process!

Wear long sleeved sun shirts and pants. If early morning trip wear or bring a jacket it’s cool in the early morning and you can take off once fishing and not moving across water. Bring sunscreen wear sun hat and polarized sun glasses. Have fun ?

We strongly recommend you fish with a guide. If you want the experience and thrill of actually catching fish vs. hunting around and coming up empty, learn from the experts where they run and the best conditions. This was worth every penny.

Saltwater estuary fish strike hard and are fun to catch. The fish were not large enough to keep. We used a combination of bottom fishing, bobber fishing, and lures. The fish stopped biting around 11am.

Watch the weather and dress appropriately. Dress in layers. 20 miles offshore The weather is different than at the dock. Usually windier and colder. You can always remove layers. Don’t forget Sun screen and polarized sun glasses.

They provide everything- best thing is to listen and take their guidance as they are the experts for sure! Do t hesitate to ask questions as they are very kind and love talking about fishing and they point out things in the ocean we would have missed- jellyfish- turtles-dolphins- manatee.

Book a guide that is very familiar with the area and knows how to work a Garman. Highly recommend Chubby mullet charters. Hauls in several reds 35 lbs are better also snook , Colt cleaned the ones we limited out on and let’s us know as restaurant where they fish could be cook it was excellent and fun.

Be prepared to catch 90 % red snapper. They fight hard and make for an excellent experience. Too bad you cannot keep for the dinner plate but that's what happens with the federal government oversight, they make rules that make no sense.

Take ginger ale or ginger chews with you. Motion sickness pills don't work as good. Decide what you are going to do with the catch you keep before you go. Expect to have to throw back a lot that are too small or out of season.

Recommend for the summertime to bring rain gear. weather is a little unpredictable for the summer in Florida. It comes and goes. It’s just how Florida is.

Be prepared for the unexpected . I was shocked when I reeled in a Stingray. I appreciate Chris had experience in handling all types of fish.

Fishing is good from boat with knowledge of fish habits. Fishing from shore is difficult but can be productive as well

listen to your captain on how to fish in salt water if you never have and bring sunscreen or wear long sleeve because you will get sunburned

great fishing but he did say summer time is even better but i expected it as it is early, this was on may 1st so its just the start . iknow action is even better mid / late summer !

I did not bring gloves and I wish I would have. That’s about the only thing that I felt like I was missing.

check out a bait store like we did it was are first time to Daytona. never fished the ocean so it's nothing like back home from the lake.

Wear sunscreen & a hat that won’t blow away & bring snacks. You will have a fabulous time on the water with Sudden Strike Offshore Adventures & you most likely will have a very good dinner too.

Book this Captain if you can. He really knows the area and puts in a lot of effort to get you on fish.

I would recommend fishing along the Atlantic coast of Florida in June. We were in Edgewater and Ponce Inlet.
