Ask questions before you book. What happens when we limit out? Do we return to the dock, or we catch and release? What happens if we run out of bait? What is most important to you, limiting out and returning as fast as possible?

Check out all guides, find someone to talk to about the guides you plan to use don't just read the articles which mostly advertisements. We found our guide to be the least experienced guide there with the fewest catches. The day before our trip every guide except him had fish he had none

Bring plenty of coolers, there are not a lot of amenities so bring everything you can think of including sunscreen drinks snacks, not a friendly place for women and children unless they are fishing only, the coolers are for the fish,I had to buy 3 coolers for my fish I brought 2 with me

Book with capt. Jeff Downs. 2 days are better than one. Have tbe Marina cook some of your catch when you get back. Buy your lunch for the next day 30+ miles before you get to Venice. Do not expect luxurious accomodations. This place is about your day on the water, awsome guides and fishing, and memories to last a lifetime.

Get plenty of rest. Have some knowledge of how to treat and respect your guides equipment. Have your 3day charter pass and fishing license ready. Dress appropriately for the days weather. Have fun and don't expect to be handed a fish, you have to earn your catch.

It was very active! We started catching Red Snapper as soon as we dropped Lines, and reached our Limit! We tried a couple of different methods for Redfish and nearly caught that Limit too!

Be prepared for a longboat ride, but worth the trip. Beautiful water and weather the first of May. Can't wait to go back

Have a physical workout routine to help handle the tough, large fish you are likely to encounter offshore - weight lifting is a definite help to be prepared.

Make sure you know what your getting in to. This is not your typical fish catching. It can be hard work, but with the right guide it helps a lot.

Bring some aspirin, because if you get onto big yellowfin tuna your whole body's going to be sore from the fight.

make sure you bring some thing to protect you from the sun, sun screen on your hands kills the shrimp you use for bait.
