This was our third fishing trip this week, never disappointed. Also our second time back to San Pedro. We did deep sea fishing, night fishing and this in shore fishing trip, BBQ and snorkeling.
Night fishing was very fun, fast action and large variety of fish; that was our favourite - and no risk of sun burn! We caught a 4 ft shark, took 20 min to bring in.
During the day, recommending asking to catch barracuda in shallows, reef side - better fighting action than deep sea, but smaller fish. But for giant barracuda, sailfish and wahoo go deep sea, ocean side of reef.

The fishing was great. We caught probably 25 fish during our 3-hour excursion including a few big fish that fought like hell. It was mostly smaller reef fish, what we would call “pan fish”. But the fishing itself was enjoyable.

Be picky about the fisherman and the boat. There are more to choose from, so if you have the chance to look at the boat first and meet the captain prior to booking, I would recommend doing so. Otherwise, you're at the mercy of 'Duds' like Winfred, who care very little about the experience for the paying customers.

It was a great time but in June it’s the rainy season. The water was pretty choppy and rough in the morning but settled a little in the afternoon. From what I’ve gathered the fishing is better in March-May. However there are seasonal fishing that are worth it. Also I am going to come back and do some fly fishing.

We were so excited to try different fishing styles in San Pedro. My husband and daughter were excited to try and catch some bigger fish doing some deep sea fishing, however they got sea sick very quickly and it ruined the day. We also did some reef fishing, which was a little disappointing, but not the captains fault at all. Apparently when you go during a full moon, the fish aren’t as hungry during the day, since they feed more at night during this time. This is something we weren’t aware of. We might have timed our trip differently or maybe not booked as many fishing trips during our stay.

Weather is generally favorable, but the wind can be unpredictable. We were fortunate enough to have a light day, but there were days later in our week, that I don't think deep sea fishing would be an option. Also, the sun there is nothing to joke about. Bring lots of sunscreen and use it often. Hats and light colored, sun blocking clothes can save your day.

Great fishing, caught Cuda, king and Spanish mackeral mutton snapper, tuna, and grunts of multiple variety This is wahoo season. We didn't catch any billfish, but they are around. Feb and March more for sails and marlin. Great fishing inshore and offshire!¡

I had bad weather so tough to provide a fair comment.
A lot of the fishing is close to town or at least with structures visible so it does detract from the feeling of being out “in the wild” that I love about other destinations.

Bring plenty of strong insect repellent not for the boat but for Ambergris Caye. The island has lots of standing water and trash everywhere and we were not able to go outside day or night without spraying down with repellent. We will not be going back to this island which is unfortunate because we had a great time once we were out on the boat.

We had a great day with lots of fish and only moderate winds. The captains work diligently to maintain sustainable practices and the fishery has prospered from reduced tourism during Covid. Adding San Pedro to my list of recurring stops.

This wasn't a fish focused trip for me, but I did catch a bone fish from shore behind our resort with plastic grub. The wind was up most of the trip, so that made sight fishing difficult. There were lots of snapper around from shore around the resort's pier and by boat. They were taking plastics and sardines.

We fished spinning gear and I brought my own. If you fish with Nano you dont have to bring spinners, I left him 2 brand new set ups. Seems like alot of people fly fish for bonefish here. I dont know anything about that. But you would have had alot of opportunities

Bill Seaman
Fished both Off-shore and Flats. Would recommend both as they are very different, but each experience was top-notch.

Robert Haggart
Trust what the captain wants to target…they know the water and will put you in the best situation to catch fish.

Eric Jamvold
Live bait, watch the wind, pick the right day and stay flexible with your plans to accommodate

Kelly McClaskey
The wind made it hard to cast the fly line. March is pretty windy. We did see a lot of fish.

Chris Meeks
It's hit or miss with the wind. If you're blessed enough to get a day outside the reef the fishing will be even better!!

Wear long sleeves and plenty of sunscreen and polarizing glasses. Consider a bandanna around your neck. All of the guides wear a neck gaiter to cover their face and neck.

Mike Kuhn
We had a bit of a slower day but still caught plenty of fish. Unfortunately, not of the size we had hoped but still plenty of good eaters!

Freedom Tours is a great choice regardless of what you’re looking for. Best deep sea fishermen, best reef, and best all day snorkeling trips if you’re just looking to relax and float!

Talk to the captain plenty and be open to anything. Sometimes a specific type fish may not be cooperating but they can still make some adjustments and turn it into a great day..

Bonefish are plentiful. Permit were few. There are juvenile tarpon around. Plenty of mutton snappers to have for a lunch.

Pat McDonald
The crew instructions are any level when they see that you have experience they let you do your thing but they unhook your fish and bait your hook

Alex Kirk
N/A - 60% of our lines didn’t even have bait on it so I can’t even rate “fishing in San Pedro”

Gary Scoggins
In smaller boats expect to fish inside the reef. Depending on species you are after, trolling for barracuda or bottom fishing inside the reef has always been productive.

Ryan Outlaw
1/2 day is probably enough for most people who have not fished a lot. I did a full day and it was a lot of time but I love fishing.

Kelly Wells
Tayo and Hazin were great! We caught everything we were looking for. They were great on finding the spots. Lunch was delicious. Thank you friends!

Shelbi Davis
Book it! It’s a fun experience. Bring your patience and open mind. It can be hot, with no shade and there can be lulls of time where you’re not catching anything.

David Imhoff
Fishing is a little slow but we went out in the middle of the afternoon, maybe try morning. Our first time fishing here so not sure what what to expect in different months.

Michael Colvin
Keep an open mind. When you go with a guide, it’s their boat and let them lead. Enjoy the experience.
