Have fun. Keep in mind it’s fishing not catching. It’s not always going to be a full limit or sometimes even any in the boat. If you have a guide rate him more on his quality as a person, a guide, and his knowledge conveyed. His job is to try and get you on the fish as long as he is showing that he is trying it’s not his fault if they arnt biting or just not around.

The weather was warm so bring sun screen. The captain explained that at this time of year, some people do not catch much. Next time I book a charter, I will take the captain's recommended months into consideration.

This was super easy in and out and didn't have to ride in the boat for half hour to start fishing and to get to multiple spots. Liked all of that. What surprised me was how far down to Corpus from Rockport it was. Question your guide ahead about what he goes after and is he flexible and what is biting lately. Always good to have proper expectations. Aransas Pass not the most scenic with a good bit of refinery shoreline but hey, good fishing

Come prepared to take home lots of fish! If you can't at least take what you can eat over to Virginia's in Port Aransas and they will cook it for you. Make sure you are prepared for a fairly hot day in the sun. There isn't any shade on these skinny water boats. If you want more than water to drink make sure to bring your own favorite beverages iced down.

Make sure to get a good shady hat and a good pair of sunglasses. We bought my 7 year old Great Grandson his own life jacket (USCG approved) so he didn't have to wear one of the big orange jackets that are required if we hadn't. He was much more comfortable with the one we got him for about $70 dollars. His little sister will be able to use it once he grows out of it, so money well spent!

I am not knowledgeable enough to offer any meaningful advice. But I suppose everybody knows that it is just too hot to fish during the middle of the day in August. A morning or late afternoon trip would be more pleasant.

I would absolutely recommend angler fishing for the first time in Aransas Pass! It was my first time and I’m already planning another trip back in July. I’m from Florida originally and I felt like I was at home. Great place to go angler fishing for the first time.

There is a LOT of quality water in the area. I particularly like wade-fishing the flats, and there are literally thousands of acres available. We had perfect weather. Not crazy hot, beautiful water temperature, and lots of fishing opportunity. Highly recommended.

The weather was the only drawback for the day....cold (57 degrees), windy (35 mph) You just never know! We planned our trip for this time 4/20-4/22 due to weather forecast was good but didn't turn out that way.

Wyatt Simpson
Be ready to wade if you want the full experience. Wading requires some physical effort, the bottom is soft, muddy and uneven.

Leif Merck
Not every day is gonna be catching all day, cause that’s what fishing is. Worked out great for us and everyone on the water that day. Expect chilli morning in March and be prepared.

SAM BAKER
From what I’m told spring or later fall the fishing is better. Water was really warm at the end of August, fishing was tough.

Have good waders and boots, and other cold/cool weather gear - never know what the weather is going to do.

It was a bit tough to get hits during the bay fishing. Capt Jacob recommended July to Aug is best to try next time.

Check the tides …. Being bass fishermen this is something we don’t hafta worry about
Had no idea it would affect the quality of fishing

Jennifer Maurin
The bigger boat was well worth it with the wind we still had fun and caught fish a small boat would not have been as much fun would have spent all our energy fighting the wind lol

Mary Myers
Our trip was scheduled for a birthday. Normally, we would schedule according to weather, wind, tides ect. We were lucky!

Ron Johnson
Captain Russ Wheeler is the real deal. He took us to the fish, and we hit our limit in 2 hours. Very Professional with great tips to help you catch fish.

Nick Watne
Be open to what kind of fish you’re going to catch because sometimes you are going to hit on the ones you aren’t planning on.

Trevor Gibson
Come prepared to catch fish, bring chest waders if possible or at least wading boots if the water is warm enough

Paul Cawood
Hire a guide. They know the waters, the fish and the good spots. Great time saver and recipe for success.

Ron Alvarado
Come prepared with regular necessities, ie, sunglasses, light snacks, drinks, etc., but definitely look ahead at weather conditions… when it rains on the coast, it pours!! Don’t forget raincoats!

Weekdays has less boat traffic than weekends. Sep tends to still be hot--take plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated.

Get with a guide. Fish bite this year in july is hard but when you get with a guide they communicate amongst each other and help one another. It's all about getting the customer the fish.

It's called Fishing, not Catching....go out and have fun and if your head is in that space you will have a great trip.

The weather is not too hot yet. Try to avoid the tournaments. Our guide knew where one was and asked us to meet him at a different location to avoid the crowds.

Ron Rutledge
Bastrop, TX
It was a good place to set out from. There is plenty of parking, plenty of places to fish if certain areas are producing results, etc. Nice area to stay in as well.

Pay attention to the weather and bring proper attire for both warm and cold weather because it can change.

I would recommend Aransas Pass because it is away from the tourist crowd of Port Aransas. We stayed in PA but vying for a fishing trip there was crazy. Easy access to the harbor in Aransas Pass.
