What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Clearwater, Florida for the first time?

The only variable is the weather. It is what it is and if have a great knowledgeable captain like Nick you can work around it!

Very hot this time of year making the waters hot. Afternoon fishing is basically a no go as the fish aren't feeding as much. Morning fishing seems to be pretty good though.

Weather in Florida is always unpredictable so your trip might be cut short, but the captain was reasonable and cut us a fair break on the cost of the charter.

If you’re doing the 4 hour trip, book it for morning. The water got rougher by late morning and the afternoon tours were cancelled.

Has been unusually windy this week so far. No one's fault but that was the only draw back to fishing this week.

You only need whatever food and drinks you want and they provide everything else! They also bait and take the fish off the hook!

Make sure your trip goes off shore. April is windy which limits this option, so maybe later in the year like September or October would be better.

Storms were coming in and the fish just weren't biting. This seamed to be the case in locations all along clearwater the day we were out. Again, weather had everything to do with it.

Trust the captain, he’s the expert on the local water. Ask him what’s biting and enjoy the fishing.

Do not schedule other plans during your day of fishing. The time may change if the captain thinks a different time is appropriate due to the tide :)

Not all the big fish are readily available since the gulf is pretty shallow, but still some great fish to catch.

Go to Wet Lines. They will call you call you a couple days before your trip and answer any questions you have. Day off they will take care of everything.

January fishing can be very hit and miss. Be prepared to dress very warmly since it can be COLD on the water.

Weather is hit or miss, lack of sun and cooler water makes it a bit more challenging. An experienced captain makes the difference here in getting on the fish.

For any first time anglers in Clearwater, I recommend understanding which fish are in seasons if you are planning to keep any. There are many regulations to promote a healthy fishing ecosystem.

Definately use a Charter to learn how to fish and what to fish for ass well as where to fish. These guys knew all of the above!

Just show up and the captain does everything from baiting the hooks to netting and cleaning the fish for your transport home . Makes for the most enjoyable no stress fishing experience

Fishing just off sore was very exciting no big fish on our trip but caught fish left and ride plenty of fish to keep and plenty were thrown back

Bring sunscreen and patience, it's hot out there and the fishing is a little harder when it's hot out.

Find yourself a good charter too take out and show you the ins and outs, we used Neptune charters and absolutely loved it!

The water gets hot so find an expert who can find the fish. Fishing close to sure is difficult during the summer. Spend the money and get out to deeper waters and you’ll be happy you did.

Try to book and good during good weather. We went a day after tstorms. I think that affected the bite a little.
