What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Goodland, Florida for the first time?

It was just “good” on this one afternoon. This was our first charter here at this time. Book a trip for the opportunity to see a beautiful ecosystem, enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, meet a really nice guy at the helm, and maybe catch some fish. If you want guaranteed filets for dinner, go to the fish market.

All my experiences fishing out of Goodland have been very positive, there are excellent and knowledgeable Captains in the area that will go out of their way to make sure you leave with a great fishing experience. Let them know what type of fishing you want to do.

All the poles & bait are provided for you. Your captain will do everything! Don’t bring a ton of stuff! A few drinks (put it in their cooler), sun shirts & hats & sunglasses. Don’t get drunk! Or drink too much! Respect the guide & their boat. You’ll have to drive 20 minutes back into the marina to pee so avoid drinking too much liquids.

Our first time on the ocean. Stayed on Marco but booked charter out of goodland. Short drive, easy loading. caught 4 different species. 3 young boys and the captain and mate knew exactly what to do and how to entertain them.

It is hot in the summer in south Florida. Captain has ice and water but don't be afraid to bring more drinks. Bring some kind of rain gear as quick storms can pop up at any time. Also use plenty of suntan lotion!

We were successful even though the water which is usually clear was cloudy from all the rain from the prior week. If it was this good during inferior conditions I bet it would be great during better conditions.

Our charter left right on time. We caught several bait fish and then Captain Matthew went to work finding the big ones. We tried 2 spots that didn't yield much, but then he put us in the right spot. I caught an 80+ pound Goliath grouper and my buddy caught a 150 pound shark. Awesome day of fishing. We'll be back!

Lots of different species to catch, our first trip we caught 5 different species and had a hit on the first cast. Never a boring minute fun boat ride we saw porpoise, manatee, pelicans, and osprey just to mention a few.

Excellent day with my family and Nick. My two girls had a ball and caught several fish. Nick was polite, experienced and a delight to be around. He cleaned several types of fish and packaged them to be taken to cook as our lunch and then dinner. Mmmmmm! I found Nick through reviews and will be recommending him the same way! Steve & Family

Try to get your captain to take you further south to the Everglades where there are fewer boats and fishermen. Also, more scenic in the Everglades.

I gave it 3 stars, but this is the only trip I've made to the area. I suspect it's way better than this.

keep your expectations reasonable fishing is fishing. a good day on the water is a great day.

You can’t go wrong fishing out of Goodland. We make it an annual trip and have always been happy with our experiences!

Prepare for a great time and active fishing. You don’t sit around very long waiting for a fish to bite.

Link up with a Captain who knows the waters, someone such as Captain Brandon. The dude knows his shit.

This was our first time out as a family (kids are 9 & almost 7) and I would not hesitate to go out again!

Take advice from Josh and you will catch fish. Also don’t set the hook while fishing with circle hooks!

If there is ever a hurricane before your visit you might want to give it a few days for the waters to settle so the fish are comfy.

Ask for instructions from your guide. Everyone fishes differently in different parts of the country.

If you are here for tarpon don’t fish during the week of the new moon in May. Many of them move offshore to spawn. Before and after the new moon you see more fish in shore.

Don't necessarily expect to catch your target fish, but enjoy the variety of fish that you do catch.

Goodland is a fun fishing town. Make some time after getting back from your trip to grab a bite and a drink before departing. Great atmosphere!

I had my 4 year old out, try the 3 hour trip with small kids. We rolled the dice and it was awesome!

Sufficient water and sunscreen and hat. Especially with kids. With no cloud cover kids can wear down quickly. 4 hour tripwire children is just right
