Branson is a Great fishing destination due to the large variety of species and access to both beautiful Table Rock lake and the 50 degree water of Taneycomo. If you are planning your trip in the summertime heat, hit Table Rock in the cooler morning or evening and fish the cold water of Taneycomo in the heat of the day and take advantage of cooling of with the cold water

With the hot temps at the end of summer the fishing gets a bit tough. The fish get lazy and sometimes hard to find. The guide had warned us that it had been tough for a few weeks and that it would take some bouncing to find the fish. Be patient and trust the guide and they will find you the fish. We got to a spot towards the end that had us catching them so quick he couldn’t keep up. Patience is key in summer fishing in the south.

Fishing can be great and sometimes fishing can be slow. But when you’re spending time on the water with your family fishing and laughing and making memories it’s not always about how many and how big of fish you catch. And it makes it even better when you get the right guide to take you out! Captain Brien is highly recommended!

It could be chilly in the morning when you first get on the boat riding out to your fishing spot so make sure you have a jacket and something to cover your legs. But the sun comes up quick, so don’t forget your sunblock.

Go to Lake Tanekomo instead of Table Rock since table Rock was flooded and not great fishing. Several other fishermen we saw, talked to said they had not even had a bite. Ronnie was great to show us several techniques and spots to try

table rock Lake is conventional freshwater fishing and lake. TanyComo is all trout fishing because the temperature is so cold. Make sure you know what you are booking. If you prefer either one, make sure you pick your guide accordingly. Taneycomo is all trout fishing and is drifting up and down the lake They call it Lake TanyComo but it’s really a river with a dam each end of it We had an awesome time and I had never finished your truck before. But just know ahead of time what you are looking in case you prefer either one. It’s kind of interesting because you can get trout and conventional freshwater fishing only one mile apart from each other. There’s not a lot of places in the United States where you can do that.

Branson is a cool place with a lot to do. Plan on spending some time taking in the local attractions in addition to great fishing! You can purchase fishing licenses online and don’t forget to add the trout stamp if your fishing for trout.

The weather is always the most unpredictable element of your fishing trip; however, if you choose carefully the time of the year and the guide, then you have your best chance of catching the fish you would like.

The morning started out below freezing so the fish were finicky. Definitely should have worn heavier jackets and even gloves at least for the first half hour. The sun got hire up and we started finding schools. We were both just happy to be out on the lake, and we caught enough for supper and then some. ;)

We enjoyed the fishing a great deal. However, we may not return again to the Branson area because the political environment is “in your face“, and does not always appear appropriate for families and children. It is a shame because we enjoy the area and politics should not pollute that experience. The people in the restaurants and stores were wonderful and friendly, it was the people and the places that we saw outside of there that we felt were unnecessary and intrusive. This cannot be good for tourism if there is an environment that excludes and alienates half (+) of your potential customers .

Nice setting for a gorgeous day on a scenic waterway. But if you want more than that, the quality of your guide will make a big difference. Some find September a great month. At least one thinks it’s one of the slowest. When things are right, Taneycomo is an opportunity for uncommonly nice experiences.

We had a better experience than other people on the lake. Several anglers said they weren’t catching much today. Our guide thought it was because of low oxygen in the water due to the dam not being opened. As for when to come, that depends what you are fishing for. Best to consult a guide beforehand.

Two great options for different types of fishing - trout and then big lake fishing. It is hot so bring sunscreen, hat and long sleeves to help make your day more comfortable. Early morning or late afternoon fishing trips are the best.

Don’t try and fish this lake if you don’t have knowledge of the lake or the gear to do so. Hire a guide once or twice and get to know the lake and its patterns. Different fish feed in different locations at different times.

In 2024-2025, some flooding of hatcheries limited the release of fish stocks, so in this trip we didnt the sizes and amounts of trout in previous trips, but still okay

Fishing early in the morning is best for cooler weather in August. If you’re not from Missouri, the heat is pretty harsh along with the humidity in August.

It was HOT. We jumped in the water a couple of times to cool off and that was fun. Wear appropriate clothing to get wet.
