The Broadway area of Lorain has some nice bars and a restaurant or two we would recommend checking out. Speak of the Devil and Brass and Bronze are two of the places we make sure to visit each time we're there.

I would say that a hot July day could have mixed results. Usually, the fish prefer colder weather. This charter had the most advanced equipment, making our results better than average. A boat with a cover is great for extra hot or cold Lake Erie days.

This trip is typical trolling for fish and perfect for a beginner. If you are looking to be jigging and casting a rod all day...then you need to check with the captain on different options for fishing this time of year. We had a great time catching on our trip.

The fishing was good but I was robbed of my time on the boat. Captain was almost a half hour late. So we got on the boat late. After driving to the area that we were going to actually fish, captain setting lines etc we only fished approximately 1 1/2 hours if that. I am so upset about what happened on our trip. We didn't have only one targeted fish if that even means anything. We were supposedly targeting rainbow trout on our trip, from the listing that the captain had when I purchased our trip. As soon as we limited on walleye the trip was over the whole trip was supposed to be 5 hours long, my trip did not say anything about the trip ending when we limited on one species of fish. We actually fished for a little over an hour. I was ripped off by this captain. Now, he will not answer my message about a refund of some of the money I paid him.

Given the weather conditions, we did the best job we could. I am not a fan of lumpy seas, but Captain Jeff put in on fish despite the conditions. I would do this again with calmer seas. Yes, I am a fair weather fisherman. ?

We were first time anglers in Lorain this trip, so it is difficult to have many recommendations. Call your captain prior to the trip so you know what to expect. Remember it's FISHING not CATCHING and enjoy the time on the water no matter how often the fish are biting. We clean our own fish and didn't know how slippery Walleye are! Once home, we ran by Home Depot and picked up a welcome mat with lots of little rubber spikes that held the fish perfectly for the rest of the cleaning. Ask questions of your captain as you go to learn as much as you can for the next time around. Have fun!

Compared to other months, August fishing can be difficult. Better than June in that there is some size to the walleye. About half the catch was 19 - 21+ inches. But not limiting out. October/November better size but colder and normally rougher weather. June lots of walleye but smaller size is normal. The day we went out, lovely weather, fairly calm and a bit of a breeze.

Dress for the weather and take precautions if y’all get seasick. Prior to boarding. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, for most this is a learning experience. For me as a commercial fisherman I’m used to the weather and sea state conditions. I personally would recommend this boat.

It was very early in the season, and nobody had really been out enough to figure out what the fish were doing or where they were going. We also came after a miserable week of rains so the water was very dirty even a bit further out.

Be prepared for wind. Lake Erie is a gem for all of us in the US to enjoy. Also note as a word of advice, fish cleaning is not allowed anywhere near where we put in. Be prepared to pay for a service to clean fish in town. Just takes more time and money.

Make sure you take plenty of water for hot days. Look up recipes for Walleye beforehand and have your ingredients ready so you can cook that evening or the next day.

Walleye have moved to deeper water. Plan for a longer boat ride to get to the fish. Quality of fish is good.

Bring a coat, and plan for changing weather, you should always do this while on any large body of water. Follow your Skippers instructions, and you will have a great time

Pay for the optional fish cleaning, it is very convenient. Otherwise you need a big cooler, a place to clean them, and somewhere to dispose of the smelly carcasses.

The giants you hear about in Lake Erie are sparse in the area this time of the year with their migration pattern but we still limited out.
