Your fishing is at the mercy of the variable weather. The day after our trip the lake was torn up by the remnants of a hurricane out of the Gulf of Mexico. The lake was shut down for a week by that weather

Kevin Patula
Yes, there is a different between catching fish and fishing with captain Steve you’re going to learn how to fish, and if you choose to help run the deck he will accommodate. Making this a well rounded experience. And we limited out 3 1/2 hours!!

Ryan Oconnor
Great fishing, in the mid-summer expect to catch a majority of walleye between 18-23”, but there is always that chance at a Lake Erie monster. You will also get a few sheepshead and possible perch here and there.

Josh Pettit
Weather you're a experienced fisherman , or it's your 1st time ... Captain Trent will teach you all that you are willing to learn about fishing for Walleye , or do everything a fishing Captian does & hand you the rod to reel them in . Highly recommend !

Joel Walters
Be flexible on what style of fishing you want to do if you want to fill the box. I had wanted to do a casting trip but the wind and weather would have made it less than successful. We were able to cover more water with trolling and find a pocket of fish in a calmer area. Listen to the captain’s recommendation.

Laura Goodman
Regarding the question about the trip appropriate for children, as long as an adult is nearby to help reel up the fish, then it would work because some of the times, it takes a little stamina to hold the pole and reel up the fish as the fish can get big. One time we even had a double header!

Read through all the info of what to bring with you and plan on being a little early. Listen to your captain and do as instructed. I've been on 5 or six different Lake Erie charters and have found the crews to be knowledgeable, friendly, and pleasant

If fishing in the morning bring a jacket as it might be a bit cool. Make sure to confirm if your charter boat has a toilet. Ours listed as it did, but did not. Just made sure everyone went before leaving the dock…especially the ladies.

Get a great captain and first mate like we did! They made it so easy and the fish just kept coming in! How they fished (all the lines and trawling techniques)was as interesting as fishing itself! Of course nothing beats catching the fish and that just happened one after another.

I would check you weather report. The fish are out there you just have to be patient and find them but when you do it's on. Fish cleaning business will meet you at the dock, they do a great job at a good price. Nice area with friendly people and good restaurants.

Expect better perch fishing & trophy sized walleye in early spring or in fall.. However, the walleye fishing is usually good the entire season depending on the weather... When the lake has been turbulent from storms it's best to wait for a couple days of stable calm water before heading out to fish.

Tony Reeder
Always take a light jacket or hoodie along as it can be cool in the morning on the water. Water, a sandwich or snacks, sunscreen, a hat are important as well. Most of all, enjoy your day of fishing and making memories

The fish this trip weren't cooperating. I've fished Erie before and hammered them. That's fishin' What makes a good trip isn't always limits and full stringers. It's spending time with good people and our loved ones. I'll be back Erie!!!

I recommend to ask for captain Mike the boat tail chaser. He’s very professional excellent fisherman and he knows what the hell he’s doing. I would go with Mike again and again. Thanks, Mike. Sincerely Jen Blackwood.

We actually went out of Sandusky The fishing results came in waves, frequent catch then hours with nothing.
I guess that's why they call it fishing , not catching. I want to stress that Ricky was will to stay out as long as needed to catch our limit. No arbitrary 6 hour rule.

Donald Unkraut
There are a lot of places to eat around where you're fishing. The captain is very experienced in those the area since he's lived there his whole life pretty much.

JAMES BATOR
Yes recommend. Catching fish is not always easy. Capt Steve obviously knows Lake Erie. Put us on spots and we caught fish. Capt Steve is very personable and friendly. We wish him the best

August fishing can't be expected to be consistently excellent. We were very fortunate that it was very good.

James Schroyer
Many charters expect you to take fish to local businesses to be cleaned, or do yourself. However there is a really nice cleaning station at mazurik fishing access.

Jadin Aaron
Bring Dramamine for potential sea sickness.
The earlier you go the better the bite likely will be.

Branden Hillard
Highly recommend booking through fishing booker and downloading the app. We had a great experience with the entire trip and even scheduling.

Thomas Shumway
Caught 6 keeper walleye in just a couple of hours trolling. Caught a variety of other fish (perch, catfish, sheephead). The rods very were active.

Gale Dotterer
We had 2 first time Lake Erie fishermen, who had a great trip. This crew will keep you at ease and on fish!

Walleye are tough to catch in August and September due to the water temps. May, June, July they were limiting out.

Troy Stamper
I think we lucked out catching a good amount during the warm weather. Sounds like it's more consistent when weather is a little cooler.

Captain Lloyd is a great guy! He will get you to the fish. He doesn’t just sit in one spot all day.

Walter Dickson
Always be prepared for inclement weather. Bring your rain gear even if it is sunny. The weather changes quickly and it will not be fun if you are wet and cold.

Be prepared to put up with the weather. Make sure you bring along warm clothes no matter what. You can always take things off.

Be open minded to a variety of weather conditions and be prepared for any. If your not sure of how you will handle a boat in rougher water - take your Dramamine!!!

Research your guide if it’s your first test me. We used planer boards with our guide and repeated that on our own boat. Took us a bit longer, but had a great time fishing.
