What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Punta Cana for the first time?

My only advice for fishing Punta Cana is to research the seasons and conditions. It can get pretty snotty.

If you haven't gone deep sea fishing before, these waters were rough so take plenty of dramamine and hope for the best!!! Don't know about other times of the year

Make sure the Ocean swells are not to high. Makes it difficult to stand up and fish, specially if you haven't fish in the Ocean for a while. But a great trip just the same

Get a captain who knows where the buoy is and knows where to take you for the mahi-mahi, but is willing to give you live bait and string the ballyhoo well

This goes for any fishing trip but even more when non stop trolling if your not sure if you get sea sick or not be sure to take dramamine. Always wear clothes your comfortable getting wet in

Wear SPF shirts and bring hats. Make sure you have plenty of water. It gets hot out there & if you’re catching fish you’ll need energy

Take motion sickness medication. Although rougher seas are better fishing normal weather conditions are a little rougher than normal on waters on the east coast

You want a professional crew for a great price, go out and have a great fishing experience. Take this crew and go have Fun

That they’ve been on boats like this before and they can handle the up-and-down and not get sick. I’ve been on botats my whole life. Unfortunately, my brother-in-law couldn’t handle it

We caught more than we expected. Water was a bit rough. Expect to catch Mahi Mahi and barracuda the bigger fish come in the earlier months.

Look for an 8 hour trip and make sure the boat is equipped with essentials and technology to help locate the fish

Go early in your trip, Captain will clean fish for you to take to your condo or a restaurant to prepare it for you. Your fresh catch will be way better than the fish they purchase at a restaurant.

I didn’t want to go out very far to troll I enjoyed fishing where we did,about a mile from shore,and the way we fished,with bait towards the bottom

I fished all my life on Lake Erie in Ohio. I never got seasick. This time I did. The water was tolerable with rollers that exceeded the boats height. So I got sick, take Dramamine before you go!

Make sure that if you want to keep catch you make it clear to captain before you get on boat. I don't like to argue with people, especially in a foreign country.

Be sure you get good directions to the correct landing. It took us two hours to find the boat. We paid more than double what we were supped to pay. Other than that the trip on the boat was great.

The weather can be variable. Make sure you stay clear of lots of hawkers on the beaches. Good lines of seaweed to follow.

We only caught 2 mahi mahi and 2 barracuda but I think it was the weather. The day before they caught 19 mahi mahi
