Find local fishermen and ask around if you are looking to shore fish. Otherwise be careful of small boats on beacher trying to over charge tourists.

Todd Harshbarger
Only thing is make sure which type of trip you are booking, fishing vs trolling. Each can be fun but if you have a preference confirm up front.

They are there just not jumping in the boat. But its still worth going and getting what the waters have to offer.

Joshua Lutz
Wear sunscreen, if you get sick, take precautions. The winds and storms form rapidly, changing the water conditions.

Wyatt Miller
Springfield, New Jersey
Be patient they call it fishing and not catchin. Just relax and learn about everything and enjoy the open water and talking with the crew. As far as sea sickness maybe a Dramamine and hr before!

David Jenkins

Most beautiful water I have ever had the pleasure fishing in. The people of Punta Cana are very hard working proud happy people. Can’t say enough about this beautiful place.

Bottom fishing in 150 foot water is the ticket, trolling to and feom the botrom fishing area can be productive. We got a big Cero Mackerel teolling back.

Chris Howard
Stratford, Ontario
Awesome trip. Everyone involved was great. Unfortunately for us, the fish took a day off when we went out but i'm sure the next day had a riot. Highly recommended,

If you get sea sick revive the weeks sea conditions & try to book the calmest day as it can get rough. Also go for near shore not deep sea if you get sea sick as staying busy fishing helps lots.

Be mindful of sea conditions at this time of year, it can be pretty rough. I recommend taking bonine the night before and morning of your trip if you are prone to motion sickness..

Invite a friend or two and book a full day private trip. A full day really expands the options for where you can fish.

where are the medical patch behind your ear to help you from getting seasick hate to see you go all the way out there and have a bad experience from the side of the boat

Find a captain who cares about you. Find a trip that actually leaves from a marina not just off the bank. Ask about the weather.

The process is easier than it might appear and yes, you can bring Mahi-Mahi and other non-bill fish back into the US. Just declare it.

Michael Reed
Dominican Republic
I would not do a 4 hour trip. It isn’t enough time to get the full experience; 6 hours was great for us. Be prepared for large swells the entire trip.

Make sure you confirm the boat is based in a proper marina and not a low rate beach vendor pretending to be based in a marina

Fishing heavy boat is a complete rip off, but today I fished on board Tease Me from Cap Cana marina and had a great day !

It’s beautiful, however we chose to fish at a slow time during the season. Didn’t do my research but still had a great time!

I recommend doing a private charter if you are fishing the ocean for the first time, not a group charter. Have fun, we did!

Be prepared for a great day of fishing. If you target a specific type of fish like I did (marlin) you will pass up on action from other varites.

I have fished a lot of places and the water here is quite rough, if you tend to get seasick this is not a place for you.

Andria Mallon
Windy in the start of April. Be careful if you get sea sick. Weather is spectacular but windy.

Jason Glarner
We caught a storm, general opinions are April and May can be pretty hit and miss.

Krzysztof Jermakowicz
Defo go for it. Be patient and catch will come. We did it for the first time and we all loved it

Gregory Duquette
Choose Big Marlin Charters for your next fishing charter. You won’t be disappointed.

Bryant Abbuhl
Seas were very rough, which I didn't mind but others got sick and the seating is a little limited

Michelle Murray
We've done better in other months, the crew and boat has nothing to do with that.

Lucas Stark
Take Dramamine and do the as much background checking on the captain as you can.

David Ascher
Book with Tease Me!
Bring a lot of sunscreen and shirts with sun protection fabric!

Ernest Brady
I would wait to fish later in November for more marlin. But we did not have time too.
