Woohoo The Fish are Biting!
March 2, 2016
Last week I had the opportunity of taking Mr. And Mrs. Boyd out to everglades national park for a 4 hour fishing trip! We had originally scheduled for the week before Bt had to reschedule due to weather was to nasty and I wantes them to have the Full experience of what our waters have to offer! We arrived to the dock at 7 am! The parking lots were empty and the wind was nowhere in sight! Mosquitos were biting a little because we were next to the marsh and I knew that if we left and got on to one of my flats we would for sure catch some redfish! This time of the year is also when the Tarpon migration starts! Heading out to the fishing grounds I noticed a few tarpon rolling and to me thats a great sign for the foshing we had ahead of us! We were only here for a 4 hour trip and stayed a little longer because fishing was so good! Upon arriving to the flat I started getting the fly line ready for Lynn and the spinning tackle rest for Bob! As I was tying on fkys he mentioned that he might see fish moving right in front of the boat! I looked up and saw about 80-100 tailing redfish about 30 feet from boat! I said Woohoo! Let's get catching! We proceeded to pole this entire flat catching fish after fish! Once we had caught 4 of them with a double header (two fish at once) the fish started moving more so we had to pole to them! We caught another 2 to compete our day! We could've caught a lot more! On days like this I've usually can boat 20-30 redfish in a 4-6 hour period! schedule a trip because fishing is hot! After they left I switched gears and went chasin tarpon on fly! I hooked 3 snook and 2 tarpon in the 150 pound class before 4 pm. And then called it a day to regroup for the next day! Fishing is on fire!

Fishing is warming up!
February 28, 2016
Well the day started off with a Redfish in the first ten minutes of being on the water! We have been battling weather down here but the fishing has been pretty good for the most part! The weather will be better the rest of the month and into march! Tarpon are showing back up with the warmer weather pushing back down towards the keys! We did some running in search of the Snook they my clients wanted to catch and we did just that catching a few small snook and then catching one in the high 20" range and finished off with a nice Black Drum! This trip we mostly live baited! They did not want to do anything technical so we had a nice enjoyable day of fishing and seeing the backwaters of Everglades National Park! I have some day available for the month of March so book me on FishingBooker!

Fishing while Shivering!
January 13, 2016
Hey Anglers! This past week I fished Steve from Colorado that wanted to target the backcountry species (snook, redfish, trout, and tarpon) in Everglades National Park on fly tackle! These past few days we have been having very strange weather patterns everything from rain, wind and freezing cold for us Florida Natives! We still managed to get out on the water! The days before fishing with Steve I was out there fishing with other clients and fishing was getting good right before the cold front! While he was down we were in the middle of the cold front that oushed down our way making fishig difficult as it takes a few days for the fish to adjust! We started out each morning targeting snook in the back waters of the glades trying to find the snook laid up on mud flats trying to warm themselves up. We were not as successful as we both hoped for but did manange to catch a snook on fly towards lunchtime! The last day we changed gears and went toward the coast (gulf of Mexico) throwing baitfish fly patterns! During our 40 minute run to the coast we talked about the strategy for the day and the hope of getting into some of the bigger snook that lurk in the gulf water shorelines! At the dock the the fish smell and Mosquitos were out meaning that the day had potential whenevernyiu start out like that! Upon arriving to the fishing grounds we staked out and i rigged the fly line with the fly we would throw first! As we were sitting here the fish (snook) started showing up they were popping on the surface while they were chasing bait! We were all rigged and ready to go and we started our Morninf fishing the shoreline snd right off the back Steve had multpile hits on the fly from the snook but we didn't get one hooked yet! We continued on fishing the shoreline till the end when we gather im uo everything and headed firth up the shoreline whenre we didn't fish before! At this time the rain had started drizzling and the cold was not getting warmer and the water temps were super cold for tarpon but still great for snook and redfish. The next bite that Steve had he set the hook on a very nice trout that was 24 inches! We then continued our route and withing 30 minutes sign the bite Steves fly was swallowed by a big fish! The fish proceeded to stay low in water and head straight for the shoreline where the debris and tree trunks were to try and break us off! I told Steve to keep the line tight not to let slack in it because thag could cause the fish to spit the hook and after giving him a run for his money the line broke leaving us with a frayed line from the snooks gills that are razor sharp! We didn't get this big fish to the boat but I did see the shadow in the water and it was a big fish resembling a snook (which I could Tell it was by the way it ran for cover to try and break us off) after giving that area a little longer the rain had started to get harder so we ran a little south to fish a little longer before heading him so he could get back to town to leave. We arrived at another location and there was bait everywhere! We saw a few redfish and snook that I reckon saw us first because they abruptly shot out of the tress to leave us. We tried the area he had a few hits but nothing to boat! We ended the day throwing live shrimp that broke off a few fish before heading back to marina! It was a slow day for us and many other Captans that I spoke to after the day! We tried everything we could and it want because we werent in the right area it's mostly because sometimes these fish are slow to respond tomthe temperature Change!! I had a blast watching him theownthenfky and catch fish thag were hungry! Then next day I fished by myself to go and recruit the area to figure out why the fish were so sctive all week! It warned up the day after fishing with him and the bite turned on since the cold fronr passed through! The weather is starting to get better each day a little Warmer but with is still hanging around us making fishing tough! Get out on the water beause you can catch them from the couch! This coming week I have a few events that I am guiding in and im praying for nice weather to get the fish in a frenzy! Everyone needs to get out on the water and go fish! We are hoping the weather get better! Give me a call to schedule tour charter

Deep into the everglades
December 27, 2015
Started out the day with a little fly fishing catching a nice snook! Then headed out looking for some bait! It has been tough lately because we are all battling the wind and the Full moon! But whenever it's possible to Go look for the school baitfish then we will make Those already full fish eat some More! The bait run is still going strong which is great bringing in some nice sized fish and the tarpon are starting to stage up again as long as bait stays here! We caught a few reds and some snook in some of the bays while bait fishing after throwing fly for a little bit before the wind kicked back up! Biggest snook of the day was 35 inches one of the biggest I've actaully seen caught since summer time! The big boys are out there! Come on out while the bait run is still going strong so we can get you on some fish and have a great time while doing It!

Fished this past weekend with two clients from out of state that were on the hunt for big snook and tarpon! In two days we managed to catch 24 redfish and 18 nice size snook and they were also blessed with hooking up with good size tarpon in the gulf waters! This cold weather we are having is sparking up the bite with hopes that the rain will decrease the fishing will get even better deep in the backcountry!
