If you want to catch a lot of fish you need to go to the reef and the weather does not always cooperate especially in the winter. The estuary is an experience all by itself. Be patient and enjoy. Fishing is an experience. The catching of actual fish is just a possible outcome of that experience.

We caught 19 fish in total
They weren’t massive but we weren’t interested in keeping anything anyway.
Calm water and got to fishing pretty quickly great for first timers

Estuaries are definitely quiet in the winter in August, however reef and topwater are good as always. If you were looking to fish the estuary, book for summer months in February and March, where you can legally keep the barramundi's while also hooking a good amount of them
