Amberjack are powerful reef predators that thrive along Florida’s wrecks and reefs. Anglers target them here for hard fights, steady action, and great sport. Amberjack fishing in Florida, United States brings you close to famous structure on both coasts, with year-round chances depending on local conditions.

Captains usually target Greater Amberjack by bottom fishing or vertical jigging over wrecks and rocky ledges. Live bait like Blue Runner or Pinfish works well. Heavy tackle helps you turn fish away from structure. Many crews also drift or slow troll baits to cover more water when fish spread out.

Most trips run to nearshore and offshore structure. Runs can be short or take more time, based on where fish hold that day. Expect strong, vertical fights and quick bursts of power. This trip suits anglers who want action and don’t mind a workout. Bring sun protection, a hat, and a camera. Captains usually provide rods, reels, bait, and basic tackle. They also handle safety gear and a plan for the day’s seas.

Florida offers prime Amberjack grounds from the Panhandle to the Keys. On the Gulf side, Destin, Pensacola, Panama City Beach, Tampa Bay, and Clearwater have productive wrecks and reefs. On the Atlantic side, Daytona Beach, Cape Canaveral, Palm Beach, Jupiter, and Miami offer deep structure and strong currents that Amberjack love. The Florida Keys and Dry Tortugas feature famous bluewater fishing with many wrecks and ledges.

Regulations can change by area and season. Always check local fishing license, permit, season, and harvest rules before your trip. Your captain will explain the current rules and handling practices for safe release or keeping fish when allowed.

    Wow What a Blast!!!

Captian John and his first mate Nick were awesome. This was our 1st time fishing like this.. 1st we caught our bait (and had a blast) then we traveled out and caught AJ’s (short for Amberjack) and we caught a 10 foot 700lbs bull shark..I had to tap my son in to finish bringing in the shark my forearms were burning… Captain John and Nick were so friendly, patient and kind.. Would highly recommend A Slice of Life to anyone looking to catch tanks and have a blast doing it

    Bulldog Is The Best

We had a great trip, when trolling wasn't hitting we switched over to live bait and everyone got a solid fish on their hook. We caught a massive Amberjack that truly made the whole trip worth it.
