Double Digit Celebration
We came out for our son's 10th birthday. We came out to catch grouper and Captain Bob put us right on them. Our son had a blast. Capt was great with the kids and very accommodating. Once we caught our max on grouper, he put us on more fish we could catch. Our kid wanted to go for a hogfish and Capt took us right to them. Absolutely would recommend, we are already planning for next year's birthday 👌🏼

About Hogfish fishing
Hogfish are a favorite reef catch known for cautious bites and great table fare. They root along sand and shell near reefs and wrecks, using a long snout to sniff out crabs and mollusks. Many anglers target Hogfish for steady action, light-tackle fun, and a delicious reward at day’s end.
You can catch Hogfish with simple bottom fishing. Use small hooks, light leaders, and natural baits like shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas. Drop rigs close to structure and keep contact with the bottom. Spearfishing is also popular where it’s allowed, since Hogfish often hold tight to reefs.
Expect subtle taps, not crushing strikes. Give the fish a moment, then lift to set the hook. The fight is lively but manageable, making this great for families and first-timers. Captains often hop between spots to stay on the bite. Bring sun protection, a hat, polarized sunglasses, snacks, and any motion-sickness meds you might need. Check with your captain about what tackle and ice are provided.
Rules for Hogfish vary by location and change often. Before you go, confirm local license and permit needs, and review season, size, and harvest rules for reef fish. Your captain will help you follow current regulations so you can focus on fishing and keeping your catch within the law.
