Marlin (Blue) Fishing in Costa Rica
The warm waters and productive reef areas of Costa Rica make excellent conditions for billfish. While Blue Marlin can be found all along the coast, you can note their migration patterns by season, with August to December seeing many Blue Marlin in the south, Jaco and Quepos experiencing high season from September to December and the northern areas of Playa Flamingo and Tamarindo most frequented by Blue Marlin from November to March.
Some of the most famous Blue Marlin fisheries include the Los Suenos marina, Golfito and Drake's Bay. Frequented also by Black Marlin and Striped Marlin, going out of Los Suenos makes it possible to achieve a billfish 'Grand Slam'.

"Fantastic trip"
There were 4 of us on this trip and we caught 12 black fin tuna which we couldn't eat but the trill and experience was awesome!! My boyfriend had the pleasure of catching and fighting a blue marlin for over an hour but the line broke- either way this half day trip was an amazing experience and the captain and first mate were fun, friendly and professional!! 5 stars! Highly recommend!
"Good day on the water"
Fishing a little slow still landed 3 sails and had a few spit the hook. We broke off a marlin within 15 minutes of fishing.
"Full day trip on the Predator"
The captain and mate on the Predator are top notch. We caught nine foot sailfish and a 11.66 foot 400 pound blue marlin. The marlin was a strong, noble fighter and battled for over an hour. We could not have brought him to the boat without the combined skill of the captain and mate. I highly recommend the Predator to any serious sport fisherman.
