    (6 Hour Trip)

    Great last minute trip

We had a great time on Vengeance, almost always had a fish on the line. Christian was always jumpjng around to help whoever needed it and Captain Matt kept us moving to the next spot as soon as one dried up.

(4 hour trolling and bottom fishing - 2:00 PM)

    an excellent afternoon!

captain brody and first mate jan were great on our 4 hour afternoon bottom fishing focused trip. brody put us on several hot spots and jan did a great job of coaching us and keeping hooks baited. these gentleman were fantastic with our boys (8-16 yrs old), and the bottom fishing method kept everybody engaged. plus we had a great vermillion snapper haul which made for a delicious hook and cook dinner at nearby Brotulas!

Skipjack fishing is all about speed, action, and non-stop fun. Skipjack Tuna school in big numbers and hit hard. They run fast, dive deep, and keep rods bent. Many anglers target them for the rush, steady bites, and quality meat when handled on ice.

Teams often troll small feathers, cedar plugs, or spoons at a brisk pace. Casting metal jigs or small plugs into breaking fish also works well. Live bait like sardines or anchovies is deadly when fish are finicky. Chumming, which means tossing bits of bait to draw fish close, can spark a fast bite. Look for birds, rip lines, and surface splashes. Use light to medium tackle with smooth drags and clear leaders for more strikes.

Expect a fast-paced trip with doubles and even multiple hookups. This is a great option for first-time anglers, kids, and anyone who enjoys steady action. Bring sun protection, polarized sunglasses, a hat, and non-slip shoes. Pack a light jacket and a camera. If you plan to keep fish, bring a cooler for the ride home and be ready to ice them quickly. Your crew will guide you on handling, bleeding, and storing your catch.

Regulations for Skipjack Tuna vary by region and can change during the year. Always check local fishing license and permit rules before you go. Confirm open seasons, areas, and harvest limits for your trip. When in doubt, ask your captain about current rules and best practices for keeping or releasing fish.
