What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Clearwater, Florida for the first time?

If you can book a trip late May prior to schools getting out and summer kicking off you’ll have a great time. I suggest a weekday as during the weekend it get really busy on the water and beaches but our Saturday trip was still very do-able and a great time! Zero complaints about the charter and the area we selected

Sit back and soak up the weather and scenery regardless of how the fishing is! We left a snow covered Wisconsin for a week and were welcomed to record breaking temperatures in Clearwater. Temps reached 90 degrees 3 days in a row which is a bit high for that time of year. If you like your beer and/or booze (and we are from Wisconsin so we do!) don't forget to bring some along! I take my fishing very serious, but a Captain and Coke would have made the experience just a touch better, which it always does! In moderation.... of course!

Our first time fishing in the golf was amazing. We booked a 4 hour trip with Kat at Neptune fishing charters. Highly recond anyone looking for a great time fishing on the.gulf to contact Kat and reserve a trip. Trust me you will thank me afterwards.

this is a good choice for those who would prefer in shore and flats fishing which is generally easier to get to, and more reliable if the weather conditions (rain, wind, etc) are a concern. Captain Matt will work his tail off for you to give you the best chances to catch fish. His boat is comfortable, has seats for 3-4. and is about as easy as any to get into or out of, if mobility is an issue for you. I would recommend this charter!

Ask to catch lots of fish, they will put you on a spot to do that, if you ask to catch big fish, they will put you on the spot but if fish do not cooperate well then you won't catch fish. But in the first spot once you start catching fish you never know, you could catch something big .

I would say sign up with Captain Jace. We had a great time as he was professional yet very helpful with showing different spots, lures and how to fish. We had great conversion for the entire trip on alot of topics and not always about fishing. He is clearly a people person. We are from Michigan and were visiting relatives for a few days. Hire a guide who knows the area. Read comments from guests. A guide obviously cannot guarantee catching fish but if he knows the area, he knows where the productive areas are. We knew nothing about Clearwater or fishing in February. Feedback from customers is your best source in choosing a guide.

If you're going in the warmer days of the year, like late June, book off-shore trips. The in-shore waters are just a bit too warm, and this boats draft isn't suitable for fishing among the mangroves for fish like snook and the like.

John was an excellent guide and got us to where the fish were and we had several bites. With the size restrictions on fish we only had a few keepers; then again, that is just part of fishing. If we go to Clearwater area again we will definitely contact John.

Be ready for a fun adventure! This was our first Charter and definitely will do again with Zack when we come back!

Be prepared to catch some fish! Even if the weather looks calm and perfect, bring a light jacket, the wind picks up on the water when the boat is moving quick and it can get chilly.

Make sure you size the boat to the number of people going out as well as if the boat has enough shade.

I can't speak to the deep water or inshore experience, but the backwater experience was super.

Dont go after a 3 day cold front. We didnt have any choice with our booking. Guide was great. Just happened to be 49 degrees in the mornings. Tough fishing.

This was the first time we fished here. The weather wasn't great and effected the fishing, but we had a great time. Caught fish, but not as much or as many as we wanted.

Book a local charter such as Neptune because they have the knowledge to get you hooked up even if the conditions aren’t ideal.

Try Captain Mason Miller he is one of the best. Checks off all the categories clean, professional, catches fish, and knows how to keep you having fun.

Make sure your guide is experienced and friendly. He took us out and did everything that we wanted to do. We went fishing, boating, looked for dolphins etc.

The fishing was not great in April, We fished daily. What we were told May is the time to be there for fishing.

Plenty of reef and inshore species to target. Don’t expect a deep water pelagic experience. The shelf here doesn’t get to blue water until many miles offshore.

We fished at night, and it was a beautiful evening, lots of fun! Didn't have to worry about sunscreen or daytime heat. Thank you for offering the night trip!

If you want to catch alot of great eating fish this is the trip. If you are in it for the fight of big fish take all day deep water trip

Go fishing with CPT Mike. Very knowledgeable about his job. Easy to talk to. My brother and I had a blast catching a lot of fish in a short amount of time.

Book a trip with Coastal Chaos and you’ll have fun. It was very hot and that hampered the bite a bit, but that is nothing anyone can control.

Make sure you are clear with the captain what you are looking for and that you get what you pay for.

Definitely go with High Tide crew, they will show you everything you need to know as far as where the fish are and what to expect. Very knowledgeable.

You have to put back what you catch this year state regulations. Other than that go have fun and if you fish the bay it is pretty shallow about 3 ft but a good time.
