What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Key Largo, Florida for the first time?

It was our first time in Key Largo and completely different to fishing in England and France... I would definitely recommend trying this to anyone visiting Key Largo for the first time.

Key Largo has some a great water habitat for fishing and tons of wild life can be seen on any given day.

Just be patient! A bad day on the water is better than a great day at work as they say!! Just enjoy everything about being in such a beautiful place! March weather is beautiful!

Key Largo has an awesome fishery, but due to the weather the day we went we weren’t able to take full advantage of it, but did the best we could and got a good meal of fish.

From what I’ve seen and heard we did ok with the weather we were dealt. Planning next time in mid summer.

Skip the bigger charters who aren't concerned with catching fish. Find the locals that have smaller more personalized trips and can get you on fish.

Captain Randy knows how to catch fish and where to find them! He has amazing experience and knowledge to pull from! Totally recommend fishing with him!!!

We asked for a sailfish experience. Because of having no live bait onboard, we fished for bait instead of sailfish. Waste of time and money.

Take the instruction given. We fish several different species and they are all unique in their own way

Make sure you have the right guide/charter. Knowledge is power out on the water! Especially offshore.

it was terrible weather conditions, and despite it, we caught fish in the inlets of the mangroves... couldn't go offshore...

Definitely give the Underwater Cowboy a call if you are looking to book a great fishing trip. We had two great days of fishing!

May - July is the best season to fish in south Florida. Better water conditions also. All things considering we still had a great time.

It was very windy and a rainy time when we were down in the keys. Lucky we had a day when the weather permitted us to go out and fish.

Go with the locals - alot of them grew up here & know the waters, tides & gear best! Many are generation fishermen so they have lots of knowledge!

Fishing is awesome and restaurants expertly cool up your fish! Can’t beat key largo for good fighters that are also delicious!

I think a two hours trip is too short. Better go for the half day one. And be fast when you got something on the hook. Water and sun screen are vital.

Get your sea legs going, ten miles out you could experience some serious swells. If you have ever gotten sea sick consider staying in the bay or near shore.

Seas are a little rough and its hot, a perfect combination for ?. Come prepared, fishingBooker has some good videos we recommend you watch to help prepare you.

Four hours was about perfect for our children who are ages 10 and 11. I would bring snacks though, so at the end of the charter, they could munch on them.

Be prepared for a great time! Lather up with sunblock, wear polarized sunglasses, wear a hat, bring a towel, enough water to hydrate and prepare for a great time.

Be flexible. Wind came out of nowhere and we had to change our plans. In doing so we still had an incredible time

Know the season and time for teh type of fish you want to catch...... when either the Mahi or Wahoo are in........ Late April, the Wahoo run out, and Mahi start to come in.....

We were lucky to snag a Wahoo today as it is the end of their season. January is the beginning. So if Wahoo is what you're after, know that is your window.

GREAT fishing! We were there the latter part of the month and had never fished Key Largo before. But we will be back as often as possible!

We have had good luck fishing at the end of March.for 2 years now. Maybe we were just lucky, maybe not.

There are plenty of great opportunities for fishing in Key Largo. Be flexible and try a number of different types of fishing.

Go with Captain Charlie Rogers we fished all our lives in northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan this is not the same!!

Talk to your charter and make clear what your expectations are. If they are as good as Underwater Cowboy, they will be upfront and professional.
