What would you recommend to anglers fishing in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the first time?

Spend a full day fishing, it takes about 45-60 minutes to get from the marina to the good ocean spots! Weather was good and only slightly windy.

Half day trip to catch a variety of fish for fun and eating; full day if you seriously want some bigguns

If you want bigger fish go out on the gulf charter. 12 hours or better. If you just wanna put fish on the table go out on the 5 to 7 hr trips.

We happened to get a choppy day when nothing was biting. But I have no idea if that's an accurate reflection of April or just an accurate reflection on fishing in general!

A buddy that was with us got sea sick! Don't forget to take some anti-nausea medication before jumping aboard!

The water was glassy, winds fairly calm. By noon the temperature started to climb so I suggest you head out early to avoid the high heat.

Too slow and cold. Many sport fish and larger fish moves into warmer waters, further out. Spend too much time traveling than fishing.

Come during the fall when it's not so hot and the bigger fish are moving closer to shore as the water cools down.

Because it is hot and the water is warm, fishing success is spotty. Even with this, we caught fish and enjoyed the act of fishing. Sometimes it's the journey, not the destination, that matters.

We went the afternoon after a big storm. They said the fishing was better than usual.
