What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora for the first time?

Wear a full brim sun hat and lightweight, long-sleeved shirt and long pants. The sun is no joke and it is very humid. It gets very hot by the afternoon no matter what you do, so bring twice as much water as you think you need.

If you may think you might get sea sick. Get the patch or take something to that helps with sea sickness. Don't ruin the trip for the group or captain and crew cause you couldn't take necessary precautions...

We are avid fishermen so we are used to catching a large variety in large quantities. Probably better fishing if you can do so in May, but that doesn't really apply if you are on spring break. This has nothing to do with the charter itself, and you will catch in March, it's just not the BEST month for fishing.

The full day trip was perfect for this time of year, even though the temps were higher then normal seasonal conditions it was still perfect weather and the water was almost flat so a wonderful experience

Fishing on a boat like La Princesa is a very worthwhile experience. Captain Francisco is knowledgeable and is very helpful. He, as I'm sure all the captains will put you on fish and help you catch fish. These trips are child friendly, no experience friendly, and experienced fisherman friendly. Another plus is not only is it fun to catch the fish, but they taste wonderful. It's a worthwhile experience for a day.

We caught the fish we were told were likely on half day trip. Would have like to have caught Grouper, Snapper and some larger fish but our expectations were met. Children would be OK depending on age and patience level for 4 hours, but longer might not work. Beware the sun and reflected sun -- hat, long sleeves and pants, sunscreen, protect ears and nose. Food and drink provided a plus. Follow instructions of charter co. on arrival/payment details. Keep company informed of changes in head count.

All you need to bring is your cooler with drinks and any food you wish to eat while out on the water. Captain Martin does the rest...From baiting the hook, to removing youcatch and re-baiting, to sending you home with a beautiful bag/bags of fillets---unless you want the whole fish. Captain Martin is a sure bet for a great time!!

The heat and humidity in August may not make it the best time to go fishing. April, May and early June, and then more in the fall may be the best weather and bigger fish could be caught without traveling too far off shore.

Yes great charter for Adults and children. Capt Martin and crew were awesome with my family and child making sure we were catching fish and having a good time. Relaxing to good music, beverages and hooking fish doesn’t get any better than that! We will definitely be going again.

Other than the heat, fishing is great. This was our fist time out in Puerto Penasco. We did a half day so we didn't go far out and target large sport fish. But was a great time pulling in Triggers and smaller reef fish. Definitely will be back out fishing soon. Thinking a little further out chasing bigger ones next time.

If you want small game go with this trip. They know where the fish are at but if you want big game like 50lb fish go with another charter. And mahi mahi is apparently a target fish of theirs but they told us on the trip that they don’t even fish for mahi mahi.

Book through Fishing Booker. Read the reviews! E-mail the Captain with questions prior to your trip. Make sure you both have the same expectations of where you will go and what species you will target. DO NOT book with the salespeople on the malecon! You will be wasting your time and money on a very forgettable trip.

This is mostly a bottom fishing fishery. Fish are generally under 10 lbs., but bigger fish are possible. If you are just looking for a fun day on the water any of the guides here will be great. If you are a more serious angler I would recommend bringing your own gear and be ready to try things your skipper may not be familiar with if different opportunities arise.and be flexible.

Fish with Chilean or bass meat as bait, make sure your line and bait are at bottom of sea floor, when you feel the line bump pull fast and hard to lay the hook, also trigger fish fight pretty hard for so have fun?

Listen to the Captain as he knows what is best. Go with the knowledge that fall fishing in Puerto Penasco is tougher than Spring and Summer.

Hello to new anglers, when you arrive make sure you bring snacks, drinks, ice and sunscreen or a sun hat.

Ask what fish are in season. The Sea of Cortez has some amazing marine life and trophy fish but they aren’t always around.

It’s hot and humid, make sure your sun protection is maxed out and you’re drinking electrolytes.

Be prepared for seasickness, even if you've been on a boat before. Preemptive measures aren't a bad idea.

Just check the weather, call the captain, know what you want to catch. Go with a live bait charter. Easy money?

Started catching fish the minute we dropped a line in the water. High tide helped, but the fish were plentiful and varied. We were about a mile from the reef and caught plenty.

We had a group of 4 people. My 81 year old mom caught several fish. Captain Jose speaks English. He meets you by Jessey’s Fish Market by the Marina. We caught over 35 fish in 5 hours.

go to gym before hand and get your arms in shape so they dont cramp as bad as ours did fighting these sea monsters in the boat

Take a bigger boat than you think you need. Buy food the night before a morning trip. Expect rough seas, and bring sickness meds if needed.

Love Puerto Penasco! The people are wonderful, the food is amazing, and the experiences are always awesome!

Take a trip on the La Princesa. It will be great. Bring some drinks and something to munch on for the ride back to the dock.

Check the forecasted wind before booking in the spring. You might need to be flexible if the day you schedule is forecasted to be windy.

Do not over expect. It is fishing. Enjoy the day, and catching what you catch. Big or small, a lot or a few. Just have fun.

Absolutely sometimes it’s intimidating when you’re not a professional fisher these guys did not let off that vibe
