Have an idea of what you’re looking for. There so much to go after species wise.
They will want you to go for marlin and wahoo because you just troll and chill
But if you want to fish the reefs, the rocks, the shores, and troll you can!

Fishing is slow this time of the year, understanding that and having realistic expectations, if you’re in Cabo it’s still worth getting out on the water! We saw fish all day, just took a while to hook up.

- Do not tip prior to your excursion, my mistake!
- Ask the Captain if he/she owns the boat, if not expect a higher cost being charged to cover boat rentals.
- Engage with the Captain prior to booking (you can communicate through FishingBooker with most all captains) to get a feel for a positive personality which hopefully will ensure a positive experience even if you don’t catch fish.

Not sure if this is the best time for fishing but... always a great day. Bernado was the captain with his brother and they had enough English to have diacussions which was great. The boat owner was extremely quick to answer email discussions which was great. Happy to endorse this boat and crew.

My first time fishing out of Puerto Los Cabos in San Jose instead of San Lucas. I will continue booking here. No touristy crap, just fishing. Nobody trying to sell shit, just pay your fee, catch fish, have them filleted and go home. Everyone was nice and helpful! Loved it!

I recommend fishing here, just be sure to have the prices of everything pinned down first, before showing up at the boat. Buy your own license on line ahead of time. Verify if natural bait is included, since it’s an expensive add-on when you board the boat, and too late to buy it yourself or negotiate price.

If fishing for the first time, be sure to talk with the captain about what you want. Do you want to learn? Do you want to just sit there and have them hand you the pole? Do you want more action but smaller fish, smaller odds but bigger fish? If your captain knows what you want you'll be more likely to get it.

Do your research and dont have expectations. The fishing was better than southern Florida in January, but the captain (of the boat) was saying that it wasn't good season for Mahi or Tuna. When I asked before booking u was told Mahi was a possibility I wanted to target Mahi or Snapper.

Fishing was incredible that day, with lots of tuna and dorado caught, as well as Marlin. But our boat, we caught one nice marlin and one dorado, and it ended there. Not enuf bait or the right kind of bait to catch tuna, apparently. I do recommend fishing in Cabo. I wasn't happy with this personal experience.

They call it fishing and not catching for a reason. Go with the expectation of enjoying time on the water. Catching fish is a bonus. As long as you captain puts in the effort for you to catch, your trip will be a success.

Ken Bellendir
Bring extra money in a small denominations to tip these hard-working people. Be prepared to spend approximately $30 per day for bait. Relax and enjoy the experience. These people are professional & very experienced.

Any day on the water is good, but if you are serious about catching a particular species do your research ahead of time. I was look for Roosterfish on this trip but heard from another fisherman after the trip that Roosters had not moved into the area yet…

Sunscreen and more sunscreen. Drink plenty of water. Ask your captain what drinks they do and do not provide. Bring snacks if you are taking a longer trip.
Have fun regardless of what you’re catching!

Fishing in Cabo is a must! Ruben put us on fiah in a hurry. Left the marina at 630 and had a fish in the boat by 830. That was the fun part. The boat I booked was not the one in the picture. But for the price the experience was great. But the boat and wanted to target Mahi after our trophies and went on a 3 hour troll back to the marina. Getting beat up by the waves was not fun.

Book with Fishing Booker, was our first time and worked out great. Pack a light lunch and snacks, plus plenty of water. Wear sun protection long sleeve and wear a hat, Preferably a sun hat with a chin strap so it doesn't fly away. We tipped our Captain $25 USD and Assistant $25 USD, at the dock fish cleaning station we paid the gentleman $10 USD to clean and fillet our fish. Bring a small insulated bag with some Ice to put your fish in. They put it in plastic sealed bags for you but needs to be kept cool. Take your fish to Georges right across the street to have them prepare your catch. Ceviche and an assortment of fish tacos.

Wear sunscreen and take it with you if out longer than 3 hours. Bring at least 1 liter of water for each person, a camera, and snacks.
Pin down the operator on exactly where to meet as their "home dock" may not be where they pick you up and you need to know where to be dropped off by your ride service.

Think we were lucky getting a fish that day, but the crew tried hard to find them. Also, when you show up, the marina is not is great shape with garbage all over. A bit of a confusing check in process. Bring your own food etc. and do not assume you can get some there easily. There was a great place where your fish can get cleaned by locals.

Our captain Ramon and his first mate worked super hard to make sure we caught fish. We trolled going out and then switched over to spot fishing where we had the most luck. Caught dorado or mahi mahi, snapper, mackerel, trigger and trumpet fish. We were blessed with a great captain and a beautiful day!

Daniel Gourash
Bring extra cash for licenses for each angler and bait for the boat. That is not listed on the site as not included. Also, suggest bringing toilet paper for use of the head on the boat and the use of the restrooms at the marina. That is an unpleasant surprise.

Jeff Steinmetz
Pay a little extra for live bait. It’s worth it. Ballyhoo for trolling. Sardines for tuna and mahi. You will need to have some experience to help captain and get fish in the boat drive the boat if needed.

The area has never disappointed anytime of the year for me. July hits best in the morning so if you are doing a half day definitely do the morning. The water gets up to 80 F in July so best for Dorados in the a.m.

Get on the smallest boat possible with just yourself and the crew and/or your partner, have fun, have patience, and enjoy the beautiful views, the water, the people, and the amazing fish and sealife. Was well beyond my expectations, and the prices for all this was very affordable. Dalikan Sportfishing turned out to be the choice for a great boat, a great crew, and great fishing!!

Make sure that you have a good reel, the ones that they provide are slow and old, they make dorado fish hard to reel in, and very difficult when you land a strip marlin. That would be my suggestion, maybe bring your own reel.

We try to book a couple of weeks before the big marlin tournament.
Three years ago we hooked up on big tuna and even red snapper.
This year (2021) - nothing.
San Jose Del Cabo is way nicer than going all the way to Cabo San Lucas.
Great golf there too with the best on course tacos ever!

Bring a Cooler, bleed your fish, request plenty of ice on the boat, don't tip til the trip is over...also keep a keen eye on your fish as they leave the boat...there are a ton of opportunities for people to grab one from your wheelbarrow without you noticing

The waters around San Jose were great to fish!! Lots of people, including ourselves, caught fish during our mid-March trip (Tuna, snapper, Marlin). Just to make things even better, there were whales playing everywhere; quite an amazing place. I highly recommend it if you have the chance.

Be patient and try coming during peak fishing season October through December. This time of year the fishing is not crowded, which is nice. Try out Carlos at Capricho Sport fishing.

Bruce Zoschnick
Seemed like the rooster tails were easier to catch closer to the beach maybe not waste so much time going for Marlin. It’s a crapshoot and you gotta go way out.

Joseph Brown
It was my first time and had a great experience with Daliken sportfishing. The people at marina said I had the biggest fish of the day. Good to hear especially when u had an awesome time already

Stacey Manitz
Bring warmer clothing as well as light stuff. Watch the weather for wind conditions. Enjoy the majestic whales and dolphins along the way!! :)
