Inshore charters that explore calm, sheltered waters are perfect for families and beginners, and rich spots close to shore mean that even half day trips can produce lots of fish. Nearshore reef fishing is all about loading up on delicious fish, and a few extra hours are sure to be worth it. Lastly, while the world-class fishing grounds of “Sailfish Alley” are close, you should opt for a full day to get the most out of your trip.

In Miami, you’ll find charter boats anywhere you turn. Inshore, the city's canals and lagoons are sure to give you a good selection of captains, with Blue Lagoon being a great starting spot. On the bay coast, charters are docked anywhere from its northern edge, all the way to the marinas surrounding Miami City Hall in the south.

Inshore, January sees very clear waters in Miami's Biscayne Bay. This makes for excellent sight fishing for species such as big Seatrout, Tarpon, and Bonefish. Nearshore, conditions can be windy. Sailfish are biting well.

February

February is the beginning of high Bonefish season in Miami, which continues through June. Offshore, the Sailfish bite continues. Enter Miami's famous Sailfish Challenge Tournament and test your skills!

March

Large schools of Bonefish and Tarpon are caught in the bay. Head just a couple of miles offshore, and you will be in for a treat - everything is biting. Go for Kingfish, Tuna, and Mahi Mahi.

April

Some Tarpon start to leave the Bay to start their northwards migration, but they will still be caught in large numbers through June. Miami wreck fishing gets better and better and Mahi are caught offshore.

May

As the weather transitions towards summer, everyone wants to be on the water. Look out for the famous Miami Sportfish Tournament early in the month and the Bob Lewis Kids Fishing Classic on Memorial Day Weekend.

June

Tarpon begin to be replaced by large schools of Permit in Biscayne Bay, making for some excellent shallow water fishing. Offshore, head to the reefs for Kingfish, Bonito, and Blackfin Tuna.

July

Permit continue to hold in the bay, although the larger Tarpon have moved on. Offshore, there is excellent fishing over the reefs and wrecks for Snapper and Grouper, with Kingfish and Bonito biting well.

August

Surface water temperatures are very hot, so the best fishing is early in the morning and later in the evening. Head offshore to deep drop for a real sea monster!

September

Bonefish are back on top form, as water temperatures are perfect for them. Troll slowly over the reefs for Kingfish and bottom fish for Snapper. Look for Sailfish as the weather cools towards the end of the month.

October

Fall arrives with easterly winds blowing. This brings Mahi Mahi closer to the shore. Sailfish appear on the trail of schools of mullet that congregate over nearshore reefs.

November

Fishing continues to be very good, with the Sailfish bite picking up in earnest near shore. Blackfin Tuna and Wahoo can also be caught over the reefs, while inshore action remains as good as ever.

December

Tarpon begin to reappear in Biscayne Bay as they return from their migration in the north. Temperatures remain in the high 70s, making fishing very pleasant. Sailfish and Wahoo are biting well offshore.

Yes! He is very informative whether you know anything about fishing or not. Informs you on how to hold the pole and line. Our weather forcast was not great, he took us to a place to still catch fish even with windy conditions. He really cares about his clients and makes sure you all have a great time!

Learn how to flip your bait. It pays off to be able to get your bait in some pretty tight spots. That's where the big ones are. You definitely don't want to be decorating the mangroves with hooks all day . Learn to flip!

If you have never fished for Peacock bass, I highly recommend Captain Rick! It is an experience that you will never forget. This was one of my favorite fishing trip in a long time!

I get that answer from several other guides I contacted October is slow season maybe it is coming up but contact various guides and see who sounds the best for sure I know which one does, I had the best..

Capt. Anthony was a blast to fish with. Very attentive to getting the job done. Our goal was to have a mixed bag and he delivered. Easygoing, fun and energetic…I had such a great time fishing with him that I chartered him for a second outing with my wife and daughters for a sunset fishing trip.They also had a blast keeping their rods bent on the flats. Had a great time the family and I. The ride from the dock to the ocean was very scenic of the buildings of Miami. Once we were in a spot to fish we were catching Baracudas and snappers. The captain was great and patient with teaching. Wonderful trip again.

This is our second trip with them. We take our son who’s 10. We caught 30+ fish. Perfect day on the water. They knew exactly where to go and what to fish with to make sure we caught fish. Would highly recommend. Will go with them next time we are in town.

If you are looking for an enjoyable fishing charter don’t hesitate to call Bearcut Bandit charters. My son and I took a 1/2 day charter this past week with Bearcut and we had a great time on the water. We caught some fish and the weather cooperated as well. The boat and equipment was top notch and Captain Alek provided all the assistance my son needed to create a lifetime of memories. Highly recommend.

Our party was 2 adults and 2 under 12 kids. We did an 8hr trip and requested to explore Biscayne Natl park as well. Alek did a great job in accomodating our request. We had a great time fishing. Caught some barracuda and mangrove snapper. We explored Boca Chica Key and lighthouse. We also snorkled the beach there which was full of life. Overall, it was a great day and would highly recommend.

The trip had the option to be moved up a day. Alek gave us a full extra hour to fish. Alek was a great guide. We experienced “Mahi Mayhem” and ate fresh fish that night. Definitely recommend Bear Cut Bandit.

this was hands down the most adrenaline rushing fishing trip I've ever been on, it was me and captain alek, the ocean was quite rough but he was willing to take me anyway when most charters would have cancelled on me. We found ourselves in an absolutely massive group of mahi and had the rods bent one after another for an hour straight, I've done a lot of fishing with a lot of different boats and this guy knows what the hell he's doing for sure !

We had a bit of difficult conditions on trip and rough water and the captain and first mate worked really hard to get us some fish. It took a while but we did end up catching some Mahi Mahi. Multiple locations and techniques were used to find the fish. Inside of boat is air conditioned. I would recommend bringing extra water as it was hot and we needed ours that we brought. If possible, do a morning trip.
