What I would recommend to anglers fishing in Milwaukee for the first time is.... Same thing I would recommend for all adventures, keep your expectations low (or at least in check), so that you can be overwhelmed by all the little things in your adventures that can make it great.

Our excursion started out very slow but our Capt gave us some extra time and we caught our fish later.
The lake was relatively calm, weather beautiful but apparently water temperatures varied which can affect the fish. I would try it again for sure.

Dress appropriately. Shorts and short sleeves work sometimes, but there were moments when I was glad I had long pants and sweatshirt. Ha!
This was a family trip and we all had fun. That's what it's all about.

Keep in mind there’s more to enjoy than catching fish. I’ve been on many charters between shoreline gulf in Florida, Lake Erie, and Lake Michigan. We’ve always caught fish. Sometimes 1 per hour and sometimes you don’t stop reeling them in. Captain’s bring the strategy but the fis

Be ready for a great experience, but remember it’s called fishing for a reason. We caught a lot of fish primarily rainbow trout and then lake trout too. We did not get salmon (which I would have loved to catch). But that’s why they call it fishing.

Fishing was great! We caught four salmon during the sunset cruise and had more fish than we could eat! Definitely great fishing!

Yes but be sure to prepare for big waters. (Don’t drink 24 hours before and stay hydrated) take something if you have any issues with seasickness

Check ahead on fish if you can. We came during a tough time, between bites of Coho and King, just the wrong window.

If your fishing party is able to. Get the morning time slot. We had steady fishing, but the morning caught ten(10) more fish.

It was windy during transit so make sure to bring a sweater or jacket as it could get chilly but weather was perfect. Pack a small cooler with drinks/snacks if you have kids.

Having a guide that is experienced in the waters and is friendly and knowledgeable which is what Captain Jim of Blue Max Charters is. We learned a lot from him on our trip.
Scott Saari
Be willing to learn from Captain Crabby, as he is very knowledgeable and willing to help.
Bring motion sickness medicine as you never know what Lake Michigan will be like.
Max Rustan
May-June is great for salmon. Be sure to bring a jacket as it can be cold and windy in the morning.

September is late in the season for fishing on Lake Michigan for salmon. Rainbow trout and lake trout were what we caught.

I would recommend taking the early charters. We seemed to catch most of our fish early in the morning.

Let's Joe Fishing is a great choice for a Lake Michigan charter. I like the more personal experience that Joe gives.
