Plan for large waves, even in good weather. It is warmer on the boat than expected. Someone will get sick. Skip breakfast or eat a very small meal. It is called fishing, not catching. The captain does his best to put you on fish.

Book with Tease Me sportfishing if you want to catch a white marlin! We trolled from the time we left the dock until it was time to come in, and they crew did everything they could to put us on the fish of a lifetime.

Know what you are looking for in a charter and ask for it. We knew we wanted to go after Marlin and expected to troll for hours. If you HAVE to be guaranteed a catch, choose a nearshore trip that will go to the reefs.

See the boat and gear! Speak with the captain and find out what actually was caught in the last few days and by what boat. Not the whole feet of boats they have working for them. Remember you can only be one.

Keep an eye on the weather and winds and prepare appropriately for rougher sea conditions. Even if you’ve never been seasick it never hurts to pre-medicate at least an hour beforehand if the seas are rougher. That way you don’t ruin a good trip

Great experience! Definitely take a Dramamine for the high seas! It is traditional trawling for sport fish. If you want to bottom fish, choose another package. It’s like hunting for the Big 5 in Africa, you’re not out hunting the ordinary…sport fishing only! Have FUN!

The couple that went with me I met at the resort and seem interested in going so I invited them. The couple had never been offshore fishing with that being said the crew took great care of them checking on them often. When we returned they were hooked on deep sea fishing. Thanks to the captain and crew wether it's your first time or 50th you are taken care of.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The captain and mate were incredibly personable and knowledgeable, making the day both enjoyable and informative. They expertly guided us to a fantastic catch, including barracuda and mahi. This fishing charter stands out as one of the best I’ve been on, and I’m already planning to return in a couple of months. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch fishing adventure!

Great crew and great catches, this was my first Fishing charter and there will be many more to come thanks to the great experience that I had. We caught 2 barracudas, and 1 Mahi Mahi. The crew also can prepare it for you, and it tastes amazing

I found charts online that made it seem like August would not be as good a month as May/October. The experience of the crew matters most and ours put us on the fish. We had three on at the same time. I would go any time of year with this group.

Don’t eat a resort buffets before going out on the water. It screws your stomach up. I’ve never gotten seasick in my life, but I ate the buffet about an hour before getting on the water and totally regretted it!!! It wasn’t seasick but nauseous from the food

Take Dramamine! The boat definitely rocks so better safe than sorry. They fish the top waters which was unexpected. I’m used to fishing at lower depths. Cool part is many fish will breach making for a fun experience. Food and beverages were provided but we didn’t partake much. Wear a good hat and sunglasses as the UV rays are very strong in Punta Cana! Also wear shoes you can slip off as you get ankle deep in the water to board the “water Uber” out to the main boat.

I was going all out for the Marlin. But weather was great and lots of fish about. Captain and crew of the Cana were great and did everything they could to get me my Marlin. Next time. Recommend this to anyone who wants some action and a great day out.

Book with Carlo, Mayo, and Chichi ! We sleighed the mahi mahi and had the very best time ! We had a group of 6 ladies and two of them had never gone deep sea fishing before, it was phenomenal ! Boat was throughly cleaned, you don’t have to touch bait, all of them worked so hard for us and were so polite.

Just trust in your captain and mate. They know what they are doing. When you go out on a charter do it for the experience not to catch. If you go with this mind set you will have a great time. If you catch it’s a bonus. Also know the crew wants to catch fish more then you do so don’t put extra pressure on them, they are doing the best they can. Remember you can’t make fish bite so just enjoy the experience.

For first time anglers, be prepared for sea conditions and come with an open mind knowing a great fishing day is not always defined by the number of fish you catch! Trust your trained, knowledgeable captain and crew and they will get the job done!

Most trips are trolling only. Ask specifically for bottom fishing with younger kids as action is more important then catchinggghg a bug fish. Bring Gravol if not used to being on a boat. Take some before getting on and your trip will be much more pleasant.

Make sure you bring your motion sickness pills or the patch on your neck. The North Atlantic on a beautiful day is choppy 5 - 8 ft waves is the normal. 86 and sunny with a slight 8 mph wind. and the ocean was moving. When you catch fish it is well worth it. I would do this again in heartbeat.

Utter rubbish. They failed to moor at the pier so had to jump in and out with no help in waist high water. Captain has disappeared after I complained. He took 16.000 Dom pesos it over 400 US dollars IN CASH no receipt. Hello Mr Taxman

We caught fish. There had been a storm the night before. The sea was between 3-4 foot. If someone was prone to sea sickness it might have been rough on them. We caught two fish not the type I was hoping for. That is why it is called fishing not catching :)

Take non drowsy Dramamine 1 hour before you go. Don’t get drunk the night before Eat lighter food n hour or more before going out. Wear a long sleeve fishing shirt the hat you wear will blow off if it’s not tight or tied. Wear sunglasses Put on a lot of sunscreen Wear good shoes they fight hard and the floor is always wet Listen to the crew Enjoy paradise

If there's a possibility you MAY get seasickness, don't go. I threw up once and was fine. That was my fault for having lunch before going out. Seasickness is also in your head AND your stomach. It only got to my stomach. Also, if you can't handle the exhaust fumes don't go. The boat was constantly in motion and you can still smell it all afternoon.

Decide wether you want to troll jig for fish. Trolling is less engaging...but potential for bigger fish. It was windy everyday we were in Punta Cana, so the Atlantic Ocean was a bit rough. Even if you think you don't get seasick, I would recommend Dramamine a few hours before your trip.

Read reviews & choose a chart that provides transport to and from where you're staying. Also, make sure you know how to get your catch back home or, at least, allow time to have the marina restaurant prepare some of it for you to enjoy!

DON'T travel with your fly rod in hand carry on the way back to the US. Dominican security confiscated my rod at the airport security checkpoint! I barely got my $800 reel back with me. They have NO idea how to handle anglers.

In my opinion every day fishing is different. We had 6 strikes took 2 fish. I think thats pretty acceptable. We travelled in the taxi with two guys from Chile and they went on a 4 hour trip and caught 5 Mahi Mahi.

Don't take the half day trip. They don't go out very far and probably the same places every day. My fault for booking that type of trip. We caught no fish but had two bites. Perhaps if we went straight out and back we would have been in deeper water with more fish. Boat and crew were great.

Granted the crew blamed the poor fishing on a full moon and that they can eat all night. These are fish that never stop moving, rarely stop eating. Wave conditions were 2-4 so not bad for this time of year. These are old boats, chugger desiel engines so expect lots of funds that will add to the sick sickness for some.

The weather was amazing, we did have rolling waves. Those may make some seasick perhaps, I'd bring Gravol or Dramamine just in case. Sunscreen because it is so beautiful out, your may get burned.
