March

Tourist season is in full swing in the Keys by March. The waters will be just as crowded, with Tarpon making their entrance inshore while Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi occupy the deep sea.

The backcountry is loaded with Tarpon, Redfish, Cobia, Jack Crevalle, Sharks, and much more at this time of year. Meanwhile, the deep sea is full of Wahoo, Tuna, large Mahi, and Marlin.

Stay at Ocean’s Edge. Captain Russ has some promo code for a discount. Also, get a Key Lime Pie at Yellow Fin the night before to bring on the boat. For lunch, we grabbed sandwiches at the Cafe there at Ocean’s Edge to take onto the boat. No preplanning and made life very easy.

I told them we wanted to try and catch some mahi and they worked hard to put us on fish. We ended up with 17 mahi and 1 barracuda. Couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Captain Grant did an awesome job with us two beginners we caught fish and a few mangroves I but Captain was patient and kept us fishing and catching fish. My wife had never used a spinning reel and Captain had her throwing it where she wanted by the end of the trip. Great time.

Had an amazing trip with this charter, meeting place was an easy find, boat was clean, crew was friendly and helpful to beginners. Captain Drudi was a phenomenal captain showing real effort and skill. The first mate was amazing as well! Overall we did 2 full day trips and caught the fish we wanted to!
