What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Marathon, Florida for the first time?

Depending on weather conditions and your tolerance for ocean waves, it may be prudent to book an inshore charter if you have any reservations about sea/motion sickness

Be prepared for 2 foot seas. I have fished other times when the water was clear as glass. Not a problem for me, but others may assume calmer waters.

Select a date with nice weather and be patient. Many of the fish will be undersized but there are larger ones to be caught

I believe this excursion was more suited to teens and older. This opinion may be formed more by the weather as opposed to the actual trip.

Seas can be rough in November. Booking a larger vessel, like Infinite Blue, can save anyone with a tendency to get seasick.

Fishing from the pontoon boat is a great way to introduce anyone to Marathon waters . The boat is stable & very comfortable. Plus, there’s ample sun protection .

This is a great trip for experienced/beginners and cost-effectiveness. The caltiqn lives local was really good to make us feel welcome and suggested a cool restaurant to cooking or catch.

All except way too hot!! Our best experience was the catch and recommendation for straight to the table for dinner that night!

Remember your sunblock (not spray), take a hat and sunglasses, wear long sleeve ‘fishing’ shirts, make sure you’re drinking water!

Fishing was okay, perhaps they were also on vacation. It was still a good time and would do it again.

Be aware the water temperature dictates the species and activity of bite. The higher the temp., the lower the activity.

Lots of shoreline, shallow, and deeper water opportunities... fishing doesn't have to be expensive, but if looking for a charter ask locals, read reviews and the right packages can be found!

Expect the weather to change plans for what you’re fishing for. Be flexible if you can’t go after your target species and be ready to catch something different!

Hire a well rated charter n follow Captains instructions. They will work hard to put you on fish. Grill it at your rental or have restaurant cook your catch

There were tarpon around but not in large quantities. We hit the tail end of the season I would say.

Great fish variety on the reef. A good guide can find the nice sized fish. The big ones can hung up in the reef structure. As usual, the winds can make or break your day. I love fishing in Marathon!

Try to experience all different types of fishing. For us: Day 1 - 30 yellow tails, Day 2 - 3 Mahi Mahi, day 3 - 2 tarpon on, one landed (6’, 150#). Yes we got lucky but guides were awesome.

Weather only permitted us to go out 1 of 3 days, so probably not a reliable review on March fishing.

The wind was bad all week but got Lucky and got out on good day but we were not able to go on Atlantic side .

If you are prone to getting seasick make sure to take something. Our trip today was very choppy but didn’t bother any of us. They worked hard to find us fish to catch and it was a success!

After Bryce cleaned our fish, we brought it to Lazy Days Restaurant and had a great dinner! They cook your fish for you and it was incredible. Highly recommend it!
