What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina for the first time?

Many varieties and remember called fishing and weather conditions can impact. Learning how to fish for flounder was a challenge but exciting

If you want to go farther offshore, book a longer trip. We booked a 5 hour trip and I am glad I did because 4 hours would have been too short for us!

Spanish mackerel is common and good for eating. Would love to go for flounders but they are later in the year.

Just be prepared for any weather conditions. Bring a lunch and sunscreen. Polarized sunglasses are a must! Murrells Inlet is a fabulous facility!

Bring extra clothes to accommodate for weather and snacks and drinks. Also use restroom before arriving as there is no restroom on boat. If you plan on keeping catch bing cooler and ice!

This rating is highly subjective to it being only about a week after hurricane Ian. The boat and Capt. Tyler were exceptional!

We didn’t fish in the inlet but just off the beach. I understand that November & December are best for inlet fishing.

It sounds like the fishing in Murells Inlet (not out in the ocean) is best in the fall when the reds, flounders, and other fish are in the inlet and stream areas.

It was extremely cold but we learned a lot and will get another chance when the weather warms up. Trip was great. Chuck was very knowledgeable and helpful. Will book again.

Plenty of motion sickness medicine. Make sure that they already have the bait . There was a wasted hour catching bait fish . But all and all a great time for me

The Captains here are really a great bunch. All were very professional and knowledgeable. If your having trouble finding a charter you will not be disappointed with These Captain.

Communicate with your Captain. All of the CPTs want you to have a great trip and will do their best for you. They just need to know your expectations.

Capt Todd is a great guide with knowledge to help you catch fish . He is great with younger inexperienced fishing individuals.

Captain Jimmy and our first mate Collin took care of everything. Always remember to wear sensible shoes, bring a windbreaker and prepare to have loads of fun.

Check the tide tables for your planned trip and book accordingly. I did not but I had a good captain and I got lucky

Outside of fishing it is a beautiful area with numerous restaurants and bars right at dockside. Take advantage of the opportunities.

If using fishing Booker, make sure you call ahead to avoid double booking problems... We would have liked to fish the morning and for 7 instead of 4 hrs

We booked the 6AM half day trip. My kids and I were really happy with the fish that we caught. So much fun!

July is tough fishing but we got put on fish! My niece went with us, her first time ever fishing, and had a great experience!

July was super busy and lots of people on the water.. when we come back next year it will be not on a holiday...other than that go with these guys!!! They're the best!

If fishing from land go to Hamilton Beach Park, and walk out to the jetty to fish. For bait use squid, shrimp, and mud minnows.

Bottom fishing is the best if you like to eat the fish if not go out in trolling trip for king fish or mahi great captain

If fishing this area for the first time, find a local fisherman who is trustworthy and knows the area. That will be key to ensuring a positive experience that maximizes the potential to catch fish.

Support the locals. Charters Dining (many excellent choices) Fish mongers (we like Harrelson's) Have fun!

Book a charter. They know where the fish are and how to catch them. Do your homework and make sure the captain is licensed and boat is safe.

Make sure you know where the charter is located. The marsh walk is not clearly labeled. Boats are behind the restaurants.
