What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Cancún, Quintana Roo for the first time?

It’s definitely a fun trip and would highly recommend for avid or first time fishermen/fisherwomen.

Make sure you contact your Captain before you book and get all your questions answered and let them know what you are looking for.

Make you you take non drowsy dramamine even if you don't think you'll get sick also don't forget to drink water and wear sun protection a hat and sunglasses!

Check out the winds, and if there is a lot of wind, stay inshore. Otherwise you”ll be fishing for 20 minutes on a 4hrs trip

Don’t fish in February because water is very choppy. On the plus side though, captain and the crew will not have to chump the water haha.

Always look for guides that have been fishing the area their whole life or for a generational guide service. The ones whose father fished and has passed it on.

Great crew, they’ll get you on fish. Omar was a great deckhand and being a solo trip we talked a lot. Great time, great boat to fish and relax on

Be prepared to make precise casts to the edge of the mangroves and do not be disappointed if only the last spot holds fish.

if you’re the kind of fisherman that wants the rod and reel in your hand the entire four hours this is the trip for you.

Yes its a great place to have fun and catch different species of fish. Plus you get to see alot of wild life as well.

Talk to the crew and captain about what you’d like to fish and what your expertise level is. They will adjust to your needs.

Would recommend to brings a snacks for the 6 or 8 hour trips and bring dramamine if you or your family get seasick

Let the captain pick the target species. They know what will give you the best experience. If you have kids, don’t book for than 4 hrs because they might get sea sick.

Go with the Cape Escape and have them arrange transportation to and from your hotel. It was top notch service.

It was rough out there because it was very windy but the crew navigated the waters exceptionally well!

If you have children that want to fish, charter a tour in the lagoon, not the ocean as a first time experience.

Take Dramamine if you are prone to sea sickness, seas may be high and rough, Note your surroundings and the objects in them.

Do your research. Understand what species are available at what time of year and what location. Practice your casting if you are Fly Fishing. You’ll need to be extremely accurate.

Use sunscreen. Give the inshore charter operators a look , you are fishing sooner and it is a more hands on experience. Trust your guide to know what fish are biting

I would have loved to catch a sailfish but we were too early in the season but still got some barracuda!

This was my first time to Cancún so I didn’t know what to expect. The fishing was great in my opinion.

The fishing was good even though it was off season. The Mates were very attentive and would be great for the experienced and first time fishermen as well.

Be ready to target fish and place the bait in the right spot…..and tarpon have had mouths so set hard!

If you are ok with out being sea sick, for sure go off shore. Lagoon fishing is for advance anglers capable to cast very close to mangroves without hanging in trees.

Bring suitable sun protection of all kinds. Drink lots of water. Listen to all advice of the pros on board.

Lots of fish. Bring something for motion sickness and take it 30 minutes before you get to the dock.

It is always a good time to be on the water. The fellowship, experience and excitement will create the memories you strive for. Great family experience! Just do it! Enjoy!

Been different times of the year and caught multiple species. First time in August, new species for me so couldn’t ask for more.

Eat a nice dinner and get a good nights rest the night before your trip and show up ready to catch fish & enjoy the beautiful nature God has blessed you with.

Enjoy the experience if you catch fish or if you catch no fish. Not every trip is filled with trophy fish ,but every fishing trip is filled with memories!
