I would suggest waiting til May or early June when the fishing is a little better. It was tough fishing but the crew will take care of you and try to give you the best experience. I wouldn't take real young kinds as even on the calmest days you are going out on the ocean it gets rocking out there. If you are a fisherman who loves being on the water you are going to love it no matter when you go.

It's an hour south of cancun and so get a cab and meet salis at this really chic resteraunt on his beach. He will show you a great time. Next take ferry to Cozumel cheap fast trip to this lovely island. Watch cruise ships and take in the views and snorkeling right out front of your hotel. If you stay at Westin which is chic and new, goto the lobster house across the street to see Gloria the salt water crocodile that lives there. Don't miss the owners who are brothers snd the key lime pie was so good I brought it back to us on plane- out of this world fun and good food and great people

Definately try to book your fishing trip in December, January or February as the weather is much nicer. Calmer water and less storms which leads to better fishing, rough water or bad weather drives the fish deeper and much harder to catch. Also, dont book a charter if you think that you should be garanteed to catch fish. It is not the Captains fault if you dont catch anything. It is called fishing not catching so nothing is garaunteed! Just go out there and enjoy being on the water!

Take some motion sickness pills along, it can be choppy. Four hour trip was fine, if things are going well ask Capt for an hour more or so for a price. Just know that catching those bill fish are tough. Go for the experience, my five-year old grandson had a blast. We caught two small Tuna, which made his day. One thing off my bucket list.

If you are going deep sea fishing (open water) and if you have a sensitive stomach or get seasick, be sure to book a larger boat. The open water can be very choppy. Also, water is calmer in the morning

Bring a friend, It can be a work out when a fish is on. My guide dealt in cash only, so be prepared for that, going to downtown

Come at the right time of year. Too much seaweed, too many storms. Not a good experience.

The best time to fish for marlin, mahi-mahi, and sailfish is April-June. When I went in December, the target fish is Amberjack

Loved the fact you can get into 400+ feet of water while less than a mile off shore. Great experience.

August is not high season. It we had 3 barracuda on and saw a marlin. Only small snapper and grunt in the boat, however. Good captain (Ricardo) and mate (Jorge).

Read all the reviews you can. I've gone with big outfits and this last time with a small boat, I've caught plenty of fish

The boat was a little bit smaller than I would have thought. But it did excellent in the waters. Take plenty of sunscreen, and a rain jacket just in case.

Listen to captain's recommendations regarding what type of fishing would be most productive for the season you are in, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, etc.
