Remain flexible. Trust your captain about where, when, and how to fish, depending upon the weather, tides, and time of year. Put yourself in the hands of the guide and you’ll have a good and sometimes great trip.
Ryan Bonnecarrere
Temperature changes fast so bring cold weather clothes. Be careful to choose a place on or near the island. The search feature will give you options that appear close because of the distance but it doesn’t show that it’s a 2 hour ride around the bay.
Chad Collett
Consider addressing motion sickness prior to the trip. One of our group members, an experienced in shore fisherman, took ill and had a hard time enjoying the great fishing with us. The roll of the boat is different farther out.
Patrick Schnuck
You have to go there charter about these guys and you’ll love it. You’ll catch a lot of fish caught about 40 fish total five of us, for that is a very good amount. Cannot complain during four hours fishing five stars and above.

Captain Wilder was great with our kids. His main boat broke down so we were in his smaller backup boat. We also moved to evening instead of morning, which turned out to be better to be out of the sun.

Be sure to make sure you are leaving from a marina near the place you are staying at. It is a long way around Mobile Bay and the ferry does not run very early in the morning. Also look for the red snapper season to be in if that is your target.
Kevin Phillips
Would recommend in winter to layer up and bring gloves. Fish are still very active during the winter and Caption Donnie will get you on fish.
Patrick Saffold
This was our first real fishing experience here. It was a bust. No fault to the Captain. Just a bad day for us. Don't really have any advice at the moment.
Dwayne Greenwood
We had an absolute blast. Caught plenty of fish, seen dolphins, laughed our heads off and enjoyed life.
Make sure to bring sunscreen and bug spray and get ready to have fun.
Angie Helton
Never been to Dauphin Island before today but definitely would like to return and take this same charter again!
Doug Bruce
Bring sunscreen, drinks and dress for the weather. Have fun. My group realized fishing is not guaranteed to catch fish, but went for experience and caught so many fish and had a lasting memory.
Michael Treesh
Be prepared for rough sees if it gets windy, we all wore sea sick patches, take water and snacks if you’re group goes through a lot of liquids.
Steve Johnson
We surf fished on the beach by the house we rented and had decent luck, nothing big. Unfortunately our charter had no luck at all. Not a single bite. Guess that's why they call it fishing.
Tina Nelson
We caught a few fish. If we had live shrimp would have been a better fishing day! But can’t complain. We had a great time!
Chris McKinney
I ranked the fishing 'ok' because I did way better with catching my target species on my own than on the charter.

Go to the Marina and ask around about the different captains before spending a bag of money on a trip. Take online reviews with a grain of salt.

Plenty of sun screen and select captains who are knowledgeable of where to catch the type of fish you're after.

Be willing to be flexible with your fishing days. The weather in June is unpredictable with pop up thunderstorms.

Great fishing even though there was a fish kill the week before. Would like to see how good it could be without that.

Take lots of sunscreen and deep sea fishing is way more entertaining than pond fishing. A lot more excitement.

Use a charter, fishing from shore is more miss than hot. Also if you must fish from shore, research what to use and how.

Learn the area. Their are piers, jetties and public beach options to fish from as well as charters. As with any fishing, the time of year and bait used are important.

Snapper heaven. Best and most prolific Red Snapper haven on the planet. More structure in Alabama state water than all other gilf states combined.
Dauphin Island is the Snapper capital of the world!
