What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Corpus Christi, Texas for the first time?

Make sure the captain can find live shrimp if not I would cancel trip and loose $90 deposit instead of paying $600 and catching 0 fish.

There was a heat warning out today recommend that you drink plenty of water and use plenty of sunscreen. The trout were biting and it was a good time.

Go fishing early in the morning or late in the evening. Don't want to get caught in the heat, with family, to hot for kids.

If fishing in summer, long sleeves and plenty of sunscreen are a must. Book early as dates fill fast. Stay in touch with your Captain and lay out expectations and/or special needs.

4 hour charter with an established captain- they'll know what's hitting and have it all prepared for you to fish.....

I think that between the app/website and communication with the Captain you are pretty setup for success, maybe just going and trying it out.

Both times we have fished Sept it’s been a great trip, when we fished end of Oct- Nov it hasn’t panned out.

Property hydrate the day before so you start off on the right foot, then drink water throughout the day. The heat and salty breeze will dehydrate you very quickly.

Be ready to catch fish. Bring a wind breaker and sunglasses. Be prepared to be soar the next day from reeling in big fish.

The fish were not biting on our morning out, but I believe it was related to a storm that was coming in. I would still recommend fishing in the bay.

Stay in the channels and bay for your first trip. Action out in the Gulf is hit or miss and there can be long waits between.

Make sure to follow all recommendations such as sun screen and hats. Pack the patience. Not all fish will bite. Enjoy the scenery and the company.

Just have fun and wear lots of sun screen wow very hott and dont be like me I'm a lobster cause I thought it would not be that bad lol

Be prepared if the winds are high. Fishing is rough. We stayed for a week and only one day was decent, can't control the weather obviously.

Bring sunscreen, snacks, drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses and caps. Be prepared for occasional windy conditions.

It is hot. Hiring a guide for a morning trip is the way to go. They supply the bait and usually get you on some fish.

Bait availability close to Memorial Day is limited. Everything depends on the quality of the guide and weather conditions. This was not my first time to fish in Corpus.

do not expect to catch crabs in March. Also maps of the local area would be very helpful, they do sell a hook and line map but it is somewhat costly.

If you can, get a guide. If you can't, talk to others that are on piers, working the shores, talk to the guys at the bait shops. They're a friendly bunch down there.

Just recognize fishing is like any other adventure. Sometimes they just won’t cooperate.

Lots of trout and black drum! Reds are around, just don’t seem to be as thick.

Be flexible with your planning dates around weather and expect windy conditions.

I think everybody in Corpus Christi fishes so yeah… this is an awesome fishing community

Stormy weather season in late July made it challenging but still worth the trip.

The captain knew the area and was on the fish, he had us catching them right at day break!!

Be prepared to have an amazing time. There was not a single dull moment during our trip.
