What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Destin, Florida for the first time?

Never a bad time of year to fish in Destin but Maier is always a lot of fun. The weather is comfortable and the fish are biting

Wait until you get there to meet the captain and mate before you pay good money to spend all day with them. Time is limited on vacation and it's important to get a good mate.

Make sure to bring sunscreen hat and sunglasses along with hand towels very beautiful place to fish offshore

Make sure you do your research. Make sure the boat is in good condition and the equipment is newer.

Just enjoy the water and ride. Have fun catching fish you may not normally catch in your home State.

Get ahold of Captain Justin Hall (Maximus). Decide whether you want big fish for pics, or go for little fish you can keep to eat.

Look around and ask questions to see how the Captain explains what he can do for you and what you will catch

Get a charter, it’s worth the money to be able to catch fish. The captains know what’s biting and where; that makes all the difference.

Have fun and listen to the Captain. We would have caught more, but kept trying to pulling on the pole. Captain Joe was very knowledgeable and fun.

Book a 6 hour trip at minimum because you will have travel time to your fishing spots. Do not eat a lot before your trip because you could get sea sick if your not use to boating. Bring sunscreen and wear long-sleeved shirts to keep the sun off of you.

The fishing was great; however, the fish that can be legally kept is very restrictive in the first two weeks of June. We understand now that July or August would be better dates for catching and keeping red snapper, grouper, and amber jack. I do not recall such limit restrictions in previous years in early June.

Take dramamine if you have any notion of sea sickness so you can stay out for the duration.

Go have some fun on the water. It's fishing you never know what your going to catch. Good luck.

We didn’t catch any fish at all, so not sure if that was the weather or some other factor

March is still warming up for the year so it can be a tougher chance at getting on fish.

Take your catch to a hook and cook restaurant afterwards, you won’t regret it.

My only recommendation is to take Dramamine! In the deep ocean, the waves will get you!

Don’t expect to catch giant fish when nearshore fishing, but there was plenty of action!

March waters weren’t warm enough and red snapper was out of season so have to throw em back.

Fish start running better when it warms up according to captain, but we had great time.

Be ready to have it canceled if you’re coming in Roctober. The sea can be bad

Bite might be slow on certain days as it goes with the territory but the experience is awesome.

Check the days, because since it was the day after September ended, I couldn't keep my fish.

The fishing was great and every time we dropped our hooks, we always reeled something in!
