What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Pensacola, Florida for the first time?

You have to play it by ear and check the weather report early. Dress warm (yes, sweater or hoodie and long pants) cause the temp on the water can be much colder than on land.

Winter trips - keep in mind you can still get a sunburn even when it’s cold. It’s at least 15 degrees colder on the water than on shore, so be sure to dress accordingly- especially for wind!

Book with Captain Bryant. All Caught Up Fishing. We we were catching fish as soon as our lines hit the water.

Be ready for some action! Never a dull moment! If possible book with Captain Alex he knows his stuff. He was a great teacher and knew right where to go!

Book your trip with an experienced captain. Hot Spots Charters was the best trip of the three we have been on.

I would recommend going in to a trip with an open mind. Don't always expect to catch a bunch but to have fun and make memories.

Bring sunscreen, 2-3 waters and your camera. Take some Dramamine 1/2 hour before you board as a precaution. Have a great time!

Don’t book too long of a trip thinking it will be better to catch your limit. Take it easy at first and you will be surprised how quickly your bait gets hit.

Plan to dodge the weather. Our 7am start turned into a 1pm start. Still brought us right to the fish!

Bring you A Game! Especially if you’re looking to catch some fish to put on ice. The amber jacks were crazy this time of year.

The only negative thing I would have to say is with all the red snapper out there. They’re not good to keep until June 1 but catch and release is awesome also

A must,; beautiful clear water, white sand beaches, catch lots of fish. Captain and crew are friendly and knowledgeable.

Please fish with an experienced guide who have expert knowledge of the local waters. They know the where's and when's to put you on the fish!

If you never been off shore fishing make sure you don't have problems with motion sickness or it will ruin your experience.

Make sure to check weather and connect with Captain before you go. Take a jacket, ride is chilly, even if sun is out.

Sunscreen, dramamine, water, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, sunglasses, a hat, and snacks depending on length of your trip.

Start small learn the species and the types of fishing and take your babies. We can never know what our experience will be but make the experience.

Go for a morning trip. Weather was nice and fish were really biting. By the time our trip was over it was already so hot

Do your research for fishing this time of year, read reviews of people who have taken the trip, know what to expect of the weather, talk to your captain once you have booked the trip

If you fish fresh water like I do in Michigan you are taught to set the hook you do not do that here you just reel in and sunblock.

Talk to your captain and make sure you are on the same page about who is going and if they are experienced enough to put you on your target fish.

Apparently, the deep sea ocean trips are the best way to go. We had fun fishing in the intracoastal area, but it seemed like the most and largest fish were on out a bit.

Captain Glen Flowers is excellent. Caught four man limit of nice red snapper on a windy day and was back at dock by 10:00 am.

You can fish off the beach or off a pier for free, but if you really want an experience, get a charter! We used Captain Bryant Fields and his charter All Caught Up. Went well for everyone!

The weather and water temperature can really influence the fishing activity this time of year.

Only fish in season to catch were mingo fish and never two others. But they’re delicious.

Swim shirt for the sun, plenty of water and sunscreen, the earlier the start the better.

Pay attention to time of year. Storms can disrupt your trip but not much you can do about that.
