Most peoples' expectations are too high. An afternoon on the water taking in the beautiful sights and nature around us should be the goal. If you catch a fish, it was a super successful outdoor adventure. Many folks get sea-sick. Be prepared with over the counter medications from your drug store. Bring plenty of water and snacks as they aren't provided. I have fished twice in March over the past few years. On both occasions the Captain and mate worked really hard however the number of fish caught was minimal despite their efforts. If each person caught a fish or two I would have rated the March fishing higher. Even though the number of fish caught was minimal, the experience was very memorable for me and my grandchildren. We will do it again no matter what month they visit us.

I would definitely keep a close eye on the weather and the wind along with how large the seas are the day of your trip. if you have people who are inexperienced on a boat and choppy water... Make sure to get them"""" Dramamine """ before hand !

Ben Norman
The captain was very transparent and honest regarding the best time of year to yield big catches, we still caught fish, but he was clearly a veteran when it comes to explaining the patterns of fish species activity throughout the year.
As a result, I now know when to book my next trip with them.

Brian Kersey
Fishing seemed slow when we were there. Our captain said they didn't catch anything the day before and we only managed to get a catch due to the extra effort of our captain . I would consider an 8 hour trip next time if I go in November to give some extra time to catch something.

Expect professionalism and knowledge. Your Captain and crew will do their very best to put you on fish. Notify the Captain of the boat you are interested in to find out his thoughts during the time you are wanting to go.

Royce Belle
Manage your expectations. Remember that it's called "fishing" and not "catching". The captain can get us out on the water, but he can't control the fish or the weather. Bring plenty of water. If get motion sickness, take some Dramamine at least 2 hours before.

Capt. Matthew is great for beginners and experienced anglers. He so helpful and gives you tips on what to do when a fish bites. He knows where to find the best fish and other sea life based on the season and conditions.

Sally Makamson
It was very hot so dress appropriately. There is air conditioning in the cabin to cool off. Sunglasses, water, snacks, a hat that doesn’t fall off when the wind blows, and lots of sunscreen are necessary. We all wore long sleeve sun shirts.

To those fishing in Fort Lauderdale for the first time I think the kind of trip you choose is a determining factor in what a successful outing will be. Are you going for volume or big game? Naturally big game is probably going to be less volume and require a longer trip most likely but if the conditions are right strategically speaking the bottom year is round in Florida from a volume/action perspective.

I booked the charter for my 18 yo son and his 5 friends who were in Fort Lauderdale for their senior spring break. They had a blast on the boat. They were so thrilled with how they were treated. Everyone was so nice. They caught their limit of blackfin tuna and had a great dinner that night. Thank you!

Laura Sandall
Bring a sweatshirt and sunscreen. It is windy on the ocean. Also, it's pretty bouncy so if you have any motion sickness, take the meds ahead of time. No pressure on actually catching fish - enjoy the beautiful experience.

Call the business ahead of time once you’ve booked something and as the captain what fish will be in season when you go. The captain will help you have a more fun experience by taking you to those fish. If you have a specific fish you are looking for ask when they are in season to get the best chance of finding that fish.

Go at 6 am with live bait and a knowledgeable guide who knows the hot spots that do switch around due to water levels. Best in the cooler months of Jan Feb march but we caught 9 flood size fish in late June.

If your visiting ft lauderdale and thinking about doing a fishing trip call Mike! You won't be disappointed. Not only is captain Mike very knowledgeable about the area, he is also knowledgeable about different species of fish, but also the best ways to cook them!

March is usually good for Black Fin and Mahi chasing the gulf stream; but we didn't do well. By chance we were there at the start of the saw grass bloom. Would recommend morning 6 hour trip; this will allow you to get our before the wind/heat pickup and out to the deeps.

I booked this trip for my husband for Father's Day. Along with a friend. They had a good time. The Captain and crew were great. Unfortunately they came home with no fish. One person caught a Grouper and my husband caught a Trigger Fish. The Captain felt bad and even stayed out a little longer but nature said No.. This also was the night fishing trip. I will definitely book again.

"Winter" months (do we even have winter in South Florida? Lol) tend to be a bit rougher out at sea. If you don't have your sea legs and have gotten nauseous a time or two in the past, now is not the time to "see" whether or not you get nauseous this time. Dramamine. All. The. Way. Either that, or maybe wait 'til spring.

This was our first trip so my only suggestion is to keep an open mind as to what you will be happy bringing home. There are many Excellent to Very Good species of fish to catch. Even if you don't catch exactly what you go out for it is likely you are going to catch some really good eating fish!

This was a difficult trip because of the choppy Rocky Waters and also trying to find a place to fish was also very difficult
Also trying to find the dock where the boat was The website was not accurate as to the location of the ball we had to call the captain to find out where to go because we ended up in the wrong area

Please, get it together with actual fishing with BAIT.. these guys think they can fool public with strips of fish (for kingfish) as real attempt to catch something else?
Total BS.. these two think by giving stories about the hugh ships moored along canals as a sight seeing tour somhow equals fishing?.

Do a little research about anglers fishing so you know what to expect. Make sure you eat what you catch. I cooked some of what we caught today and it was delicious. The taste of freshly caught fish is very different than previously frozen fish.

If you go to the everglades you might as well go fishing. Screw the tourist boat, I saw gators all day and didn't go for that

Chad Wildeboer
Go out and use a guide. Paying the money to have someone that specializes in this area will help you get what you want a lot easier.

Terra Eison
Yes, I would highly recommend! Great hugging experience with a friendly and fun captain!

Daniela Laurore
Only if you are able to cast your own lines and really catch the fish your self.

Christopher Theodorellis
Be flexible and don’t hesitate to fish inshore. You may have more bites, especially when the wind blows.

John Sullivan
Had pretty good success for a 3 hour trip in the middle of the day. I am sure morning or night would have been better, but it worked great with kids and our schedule.

Chad Jenkins
Bring Sunscreen, things to protect yourself from the sun. Stay hydrated, have some snacks and enjoy the fishing trip!

Daniel Gowder
We had a great day. Hard to imagine it being better but maybe we were a combination of lucky and good with our Captain and first mate.

Daniel Comtois
My expectations were higher then reality but that's fishing. Fishing is the fun and catching is a gift.
