What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the first time?

January is probably not the best month. If lady luck is on your side roll the dice.

Definitely not worth going fishing in Jan for the money it costs. We came home with very little fish. I would recommend going in May/June

Ft.Lauderdale has TONS of fish and places to go fishing. It’s tough anywhere in January to catch trophy bass but we managed to get it done with a professional captain and service

some times of year the bite is a lot tougher than others, just like everywhere. Do research on what to expect.

Just go with it. Weather can’t be predicted even in rough seas we had a great time and pit fish in the fridge. Can’t beat that.

I enjoyed it, but the off season is going to be more hit and miss than springtime. Still a fun time though.

The water was rough but i do not experience motion sickness. If you are new to deep sea fishing i would definitely suggest motion sickness meds prior to your trip.

Bring your sunscreen, water and snacks. That’s about all you need. Everything else is covered by the Captain and crew.

If you’re not sure about sea sickness, take a Dramamine the night before and then again a good 1-2 hours before the trip. We wore long sleeve shirts with SPF protection, they worked really well.

Playtime fishing is great. Boat and crew were awesome. The fishing was fun and never know what you will reel in. Close to shore so not a long boat ride. Try it and have fun

If you’re looking to catch freshwater fish, you must book with Captain Dave “fisherman musician” He knows exactly where the fish are….. within minutes he stopped the boat, 3 Peacock’s.

UPF Protective clothing and bug spray according to area. Drink plenty of hydrating liquids, even if not thirsty to keep yourselves cool.

Most definitely. We went in July which is not optimal for some species but we had a great time catching what we did catch!

This was my adult Son’s and mine first fishing trip to Ft Lauderdale and we had a great time. We are at the airport planning our next fishing trip back 10 out of 10!!!

sean knows the water and will put you on some florida largemouth we had a good day and any seasoned bass fisherman knows how hard it is some days and sean knew how to get them to bite. fantastic trip

I would recommend getting an experienced local fisherman like Captain Perez with Wicked Cuda Fishing, to take you out .

Fish for what is active and available during your season/month...listen and learn from your captain and mate.

Absolutely, I’ve been fishing out of Fort Lauderdale for years, there’s always something to catch, just make sure that they have a decent boat for the experience.

Heavier tackle than normal is recommended. The fish in the area are big, powerful, and always live around some heavy cover.

Listen to your Captain, don’t expect to catch fish, work to catch them. Remember it’s called fishing not catching and as hard as the Captains work, they cannot promise fish…so be cool.

Just sit back relax and enjoy wear sunglasses and a hat but other than that they do everything else.

Ask questions, enjoy the scenery and other shops, and maybe the blue angels will give you a free airshow like they did for us.

If you go to the everglades you might as well go fishing. Screw the tourist boat, I saw gators all day and didn't go for that

Go out and use a guide. Paying the money to have someone that specializes in this area will help you get what you want a lot easier.
