Do your research on what to expect for that time of year so you don’t have unrealistic expectations. Before we went other travelers we ran into had said the fishing was unusually slow so we were very happy to catch 2 fish.

Fairly when I went around late July. Had one bite and caught a Jack Crevelle. First bite was around 11am and had nothing from 7-11am.

Compared to other spots in Mexico (like Cabo or Cancun), I think it takes a little longer to get out to where the fish are in PV. Whereas I can do a 4-hr trip in Cancun and have a great day of fishing, I think great fishing begins at 6-hrs in PV.

if you're looking for big size mahi-mahi be sure to come during the right season. They get way bigger than what we caught, we were just happy to have caught some at all.

I know you want to catch a specific kind of fish, but they're not always going to be biting. The captains are experienced and will let you know what would be the best option to catch that day.

Make sure to prepare a lunch and drinks, as only water is provided. The crew only gets paid in tips which 20-25% is expected. There is also a $47 mxd per person marina fee to be paid before boarding.
