What anglers say about Sandbar Shark fishing
- 5.0/5(4 HOUR - CAPE COD BROWN SHARK TRIP)
4 hour Shark Fishing
Had an awesome 4-hour shark fishing trip from the shore with Captain AJ! He knows his stuff when it comes to the sharks and definitely knows the best spots to fish. We ended up catching a 7-foot brown shark, which was an absolutely crazy experience. AJ was great to fish with and made the whole trip a ton of fun. Definitely recommend booking with him if you want to catch some sharks!

Always wishing we caught more fish ...
The captain & first-mate were helpful throughout the trip. The vessel accomodations were exactly as advertised. It was a relaxing morning out on the water. I've been on several similar trips; it ranks with the better ones. Next time, we'll opt to go further out. Enjoy your day on the water.

Beginners Luck!
Had a great time with Captain John. He took great care of a boat full of inexperienced anglers. Would recommend him highly. Especially great with kids. We appreciated his help when the girls caught a 3.5 foot shark!

Couldn’t be better!!!
Captain John was fantastic! He was personable, hilarious, and absolutely wonderful with the kids. He made everyone feel comfortable, kept the energy high, and knew exactly what he was doing. And the fishing? Ridiculous. We caught an insane amount of fish! This was exactly the experience we were hoping for—a great captain, great time, happy kids, and a boat full of fish. Couldn’t have asked for a better day. Highly recommend Captain John! 🎣
About Sandbar Shark fishing
Sandbar Shark fishing is all about taking on a strong, smart Shark in shallow coastal waters. Anglers love this species for its tall dorsal fin, steady power, and long runs. It is a classic catch-and-release target and a great way to learn Shark handling the right way.
You can target Sandbar Sharks while surf fishing, inshore fishing around channels and sandbars, or nearshore structure. Most crews use heavy conventional tackle, wire leaders, and non-offset circle hooks. Fresh cut bait like mullet, bonito, or jack works well. Some captains add a light chum slick to draw Sharks into range.
Expect determined fights with deep runs and strong headshakes. This suits adventurous beginners with guidance and seasoned anglers who enjoy steady pressure battles. Bring sun protection, stable shoes, and patience. Crews typically supply heavy rods, large-capacity reels, and safety tools like a dehooker and long pliers for quick releases. Photos happen boatside, then the fish swims free.
Regulations for Sandbar Sharks vary widely and can change. Many areas require release and have strict gear rules for Sharks. Always check your local fishing license and permit needs before the trip. Review current season status, harvest rules, size rules, and any circle hook or handling requirements for responsible Sandbar Shark fishing.
