What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur for the first time?

Fishing was great - but seas were really rough. Nothing we can do about that, and the 10 tuna more than made up for it.

Best fishing is September through December. We went out in July, which is hot, sometimes stormy and the fishing can be mixed.

May consider a scopolamine patch for inexperienced persons or if easily nauseated. Maybe just rough seas that day.

This is more of a beginners fishing trip. We hardly got to touch the poles. Everything was trolling.

bite was slow …. but hooked up 3 marlin … only boat to do that though. I was on a good boat but not sure its the best time for marlin in cabo

A good captain knows what is going on in there local water more than you go with what they recommend for the day.

It may look rough out, but that doesn't hurt the fishing. It you're prone to sea sickness, they have prescription items that work better than the OTC stuff.

If the operator continues to push sea sickness medicine, they're going to run the boat in a way that your group will get ill.

Be sure to check the seasons for fish in the area. Read more than just the sale ads but do some research if you are only wanting to catch a particular type of fish.

Bigger fish are not here in numbers in May, smaller and fewer in numbers. I would wait till mid Aug- November for the larger Tuna and Marlin. May was much slower than my Previous July visit.

May is slower and just getting started for prime season. But less crowds and better rates on hotels.

Wear appropriate clothing to protect from the sun and stay comfortable. Be flexible and stay optimistic. The fish are there, just need to find them sometimes.

The Pacific Ocean can be windy and choppy, so it's not for someone who gets easily seasick...but worth the experience...there's nothing like the feeling of reeling in a Marlin...!

No matter how great you think the weather looks. Take your Dramamine or whatever other motion sickness meds you prefer. The water here looks calm, but these smaller boats have a lot of movement.

Im not sure about all times but when we went there were very big swells. Beware if you get sea sick easily.

Wait until the water warms up. According to the crew, September through November is best. April is not great.

Captains reported that the fishing was slow but we caught fish and we were able to keep them and take home to cook in our hotel.

Fishing is always great in Cabo. It's all on what you want to target. Look up the seasons, plan accordingly

The winter months seem to be a little slow compared to the warm waters of summer, but I’ve never been skunked in all the years I’ve fished down here.

It's likely not worth the price to go in March. The bite is slow because the water is cold, and the price isn't discounted much.

Temper expectations of catching a lot of fish. Remember it’s fishing and not catching. Hopefully you will boat one or two really nice fish.

We caught some fish but we have heard October-November is the best, either way you will be fine with this crew!

Avoid fishing in Cabo between mid January and late April. You can still catch fish, but the water is cold and you will catch more fish once it warms up, particularly between September and November.

Warm waters make a big difference for deep sea fishing. Mid February had a pretty challenging bite for deep sea. Inshore fishing was lively though

February is the slow season for fishing in Cabo San Lucas. The spring, fall and summer months and MUCH more productive.

I have used others in the past and these guys are the best,worth every bit of money. We were on fish all day and boats around us not so many fish. First mate and captain fun to fish with .

If you’re after Marlin, the warmer water in the fall is the best. Plenty of different species to catch in the winter months, but you need to get a bit lucky to catch a marlin in the colder water.
