What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for the first time?

Tons of shark! We were catching fish within the 1st 5 minutes until the end of the tour!

Charter a boat and relax! Captains are great and make first timer experiences a pleasure.

Highly recommend to go early as it was super hot very quickly. We would love to try again when the average daily temp isn’t 95 degrees.

Game fish don’t run in the high temp water but plenty of trout, red fish and bonnet heads to have great time.

Hilton Head Island and the surrounding Low Country is a beautiful part of the South with good fishing all year round.

If you are looking to target certain species then choose you time of year wisely. Summer is hot and you may or may not get on the bite you want. Very beautiful place

Due to warm waters we could only fish for shark. We would have had to go much farther from shore to have other options. I would recommend the trip we made for other times of the year.

Be prepared for the heat, take your sunscreen and hats. Loads of knowledge of location for catching the fish and fast collection of the bait for the day.

It’s well worth the money to hire a professional so that in 4 hours time you can catch multiple varieties of fish as well as learn history of the area

Wear non slip shoes and bring sunscreen and get ready for fun! Definitely utilize the knowledge of the experience Captain! Worth the time and money!!!

You will fish for shark and tarpon on this trip. If you want another experience, book another boat. We had a blast but it is work.

I would definitely recommend this trip for all ages. Our boys were of barying experience, and everyone had a wonderful time!

Ask where the best fishing spots are if you are fishing from the shore and use Aqua Excursions for inland fishing.

was great. surf fished and caught a variety; bonnet head sharks, whiting, pompano, bluefish and unfortunately a couple rays.

Get local guide. Lots of holes and tidal hotspots abound but it gets real shallow fast and it would be easy to be locked in a hole

Sunscreen and go to the bathroom before you get on the boat! If you have never been on the water before, Take Dramamine the. Oh JT before and about an hour before you board. Have a great time!

Definitely do the charter boat fishing. They know exactly what they are doing and know the best spots.

If possible change dates if there was a big storm prior causing high water and small craft advisories being posted

Go with an experienced captain and crew on a well equipped and good condition boat. Mornings seem to be typically less wind and calmer seas

Not to have great expectations when fishing. It's not all getting huge catches. It's about time spent with family.
