Bring plenty of sunscreen and come with an open mind. The captains usually have a plan to get the most out of your trip.

Go in with zero expectations. When fishing you may spend the whole day without catching anything. Just enjoy the time on the water and relax!
Jason Netherton
Come to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. Learn the species and best locations with time, but sit back and let the professionals guide you to success!

Dave was a great guide, knowledgeable about the area, and down to earth. Our family had a great time and caught a bunch of sharks.
Stuart Rosenthal
It was great. The water was calm but it was hot. Overall a fantastic day and everyone had a great time.
Jacob Stickley
Short trips in case you are afraid of getting sea sick and be patient, the captain’s know where to go
Kimberly Kisling
Excellent trip for fishermen of all ages! Knowledgeable Captain, great boat and caught 6 fish. All in all a great day!
Chris Haldemann
Trust your Captain to take you where the fish will be biting. They enjoy catching fish as much as you do! If not more!
Ryan Brown
Yes absolutely! Captain Kim will do everything he possibly can to help you catch fish and have a nice time.
Matthew Zimich
Listen to the locals and bring lots of sunscreen. As long as you are targeting what has been biting recently, you will have a great time.

Hilton Head is not a fishing hot spot. Stick to what the captain says is best. Shark fishing and inshore for the little ones.
Shannon Cleary
Tell the captain exactly what you are trying to catch (dinner, shark, prize, etc) so you don’t waste time and he knows where to take you.
Steven Smith
Fishing goes with the tide as we learned, but it was awesome catching a variety of fish and sharks.

Be informed and clear what your expectations are for the charter. You can’t do everything in 4 hours. Do a little research.
Ashley Jackson
Be aware of choppy water that has 2-4 foot swells every 4-6 seconds makes for a hard time of fishing with the boat. We all got sea sick at one point. Even with motion sickness meds
Dylan Andersen
Use Reel McCoy Charters. Captain Donovan will do everything he can to make sure you have a successful trip.
Thomas Locy
Great shark fishing! I caught a few mullet shore fishing but also a shark from the shore line and a ton of different sharks on our charter with Captain Herb.
Jesse Grabowski
Follow the instructions in the videos provided before the trip and dress appropriately for the weather! Enjoy!!

We were first time fishers and it ended up great for us so hopefully it would be the same for anybody coming out for their first time.
Christine Lemyre
The water was a little cold today, but we had a blast. It was a great time to take kids fishing. Everything was a little small but that’s OK. We love to throw back after we take a picture.
Thomas Santay
make sure you use sunscreen ahead of time. Captain Rodney provided bug spray for some small biting bugs - otherwise April in Hilton Head is heavenly.
James Lakatos
Due to the cool nights the water temps have not risen to start the fishing season for 2025. With that stated, David put us in a place to bend the pole.
Tricia Rackers
The sharks were not biting because the water was still too cold. We adjusted the trip to fish for other fish.

First timers need a captain like Zack who know the best spots and time of day to make the most of your fishing adventures.
Peter Kennedy
The captain said the previous day, the party didn't catch any fish even though we got lots of fish from the same location so be prepared to be disappointed
Michael Loy
Book a trip with Captain Craig and be patient because you would not believe what all you can catch and how many you can catch within minutes.
Paul Parnell
Try it, the fish fight hard and the boat time is great. Fishing techniques similar to catfish or bass fishing.
Michael Schlabowske
Get your behinds down here for late September redfish season. Captain Rodney at Southern Summer Charters is the man you want behind the helm and getting you on the fish.
Matthew Meyers
Trip of a lifetime. Captain herb was great. This was a perfect trip for my 6 year boy who had a blast.
Tom Powell
Shark fishing is the closest thing to a guarantee to catch something. Tropical storm Debby earlier in the week didn’t help with other types of fish.
