What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur for the first time?

Off-shore pricing is the best value for your money (as opposed to the in-shore option). Usually for just a few hundred $ more you'll be out longer on deeper water with a true shot at a trophy.

Clarification for dock A and A-1. They are different and in completely different places at the marina.

It will be a great day with some fantastic fishing! We have fished at many other locations but Cabo has been the best!

Check the season. We came at a poor time but the caption and first mate still made this a very fun adventure

Do you home work before booking a fishing trip. Like anything else you have the good charters and the ones you wished you never got on.

Bring your own gear and BUY LIVE BAIT to troll while you use lures. Fish heavier gear in Cabo, the seas are rough and the fish are powerful

Look into processing before you go, as you want to be prepared. We were able to get it cleaned and bagged but had to get ice and cooler and find a way to freeze it.

Weather could not be any better and the marine life is really hard to beat Cabo. Couple that with the beauty of the shoreline as you’re headed out and Cabo is one of my favorites!

You may want to wear gloves while fighting the fish. I had a couple of blisters from winding so much! But it was well worth it!

If fishing Black Marlin is a great choice, Manual the skipper found the fish for us and the crew José and Manual, were fantastic as well and very helpful making sure we decked our Marlin

Bring your rain gear because the Pacific side is very windy and very cold. Oh where a hat you can cintch up under your chin!

Target the local experience Fishermen Johnny and Cesar. And early morning is the way I fished in cabo.

Get a smaller locally run boat as opposed to the larger party style boat.The local guys know what's up!

Get clear a understanding of what you are contracting for in writing or at least by text. Talk to several guides before making your choice.

Avoid booking the 5 hour trips. 5 hour trips are great, but when conditions and fish throw you a curveball, the 8 hour gives much more flexibility to get things done.

My very first trip was 8 hours. We caught some tuna and had a great time but it was a long day. For a first timer I would suggest a half day trip which I did the second time.

It was a great experience. It’s a little more hit or miss than in the fall, but would definitely fish in the sling again!

If possible schedule your trip around prime fall fishing months. There are fish to be caught over spring break but fewer big exotics and rougher weather.

Weather was windy and warm water was pushed offshore. Good bottom fishing but marlin were too far out.

Ask more questions of the captain. Be more insistent of what you want. Read reviews of potential charters. Allow enough time to select the best option for you.

The whale migration and water temps have an impact on fishing so beware you will not catch or catch little.

I think we were a little late in the season. Captain said the best time to fish in Cabo is October through February

Keep in mind that February isn’t the prime fishing time but it’s great for whale watching. A great crew and Captain like Jose n Andres can still get you on fish!!!?

The price advertised is for the boat, not per individual. So, if you can find someone else to join you, you can split the cost.

Bring a sweater or sweatshirt for the first hour or two. It can be pretty chilly. Hat and sunglasses. Bring a smile and crew takes care of the rest.

Check with your Captain before booking your trip to make sure that you get the experience that you expect! They are there to help you.

You might not catch what you want due to the seasons of the fish but it was a great experience and the crew was badass. I will be trying to reserve another trip with Jose and Javier.

Check with someone before booking as to whether it is a good fishing season. We were told it was good for Marlin, but then also told that September is the best. We went in June.
